I think only the minimod suits nodownload. When should we put it up on the server? I think we shouldn't put it up at the same time as beginners and headshot.

its, afa we planned, a whole week of introducing the christmas stuff on the servers, like BG did yesterday and HS will do today - ND maybe tomorrow?

This way, all attention is on one server at one certain day of this implementing week and nobody has unnecessaryly share that oppurtunity with other servers. people would otherwise hop from one server to another and cant decide in which to stay and enjoy the first christmas fun, even more if there are different maps on the servers e.g. PW getting panzer-only maps.

But as the concept of ND is No Download we won't add custom parts to it, there never was a xmas mod on ND.
There never will be any.
There have been lots of suggestions to add custom stuff and all are denied, so does this one.

Is there a specific reason for this? Or is it just because "it has always been like that" ?

Of course it's NO Download, but I guess almost everyone is in Christmas mood now and would be willing to download those few bits (?). It would also be a nice little change as I notice especially our members are getting a bit tired of the same 6 maps all over again. This Christmas mod would last only 2/3 weeks anyway, doesn't do so much harm to anyone does it?

Anyway, it's the same old story I know. NO Download bli bla blupp, I don't want to start a big discussion again. If you don't want it I guess we have to accept it..

I also think that many members are tired of the smae maps of ND circulating all arounf whole day. What's more is ate least one inproportionate map, Battery where the battle is stuck in case of crowds entering the server. Though this is a frequent case on ND on other maps as well.

As regards Christmas, I would join the latest post of Storchie here, I also think that Xmas minimod is the minimum that ND could or should do to make a nice mood and surrounding over the Christmas time. In the folowing weeks young people will have far more leisure time for gaming, so I suppose they also will be more patient and wait those few seconds until a new minimod gets downloaded.
I still would consider to install the Xmas versions of Fuel Dump and Oasis.
All these Christmas things add simply so much additional fun and ncie mood that they are far more worth to fulfil than those little excess download time - which actually needs to be done the first time when a player enters after their installation, as we exactly know.

From year to year, as I visited different servers through year end, I experienced that people got fascinated by Xmas skins or minimods and maps.

So I would ask you - Chuck & Antho - to reconsider this Xmas stuff, you still have time neough to install some of them.

I dont think the guests would Quit NoD , because they have to Download something for 5/6 secounds

I don't think installing a minimod of 1 mb is a problem on a nodownload server, considering the average internetspeeds nowadays (http://www.netindex.com/).
I'm certain 90% of the people is able to download 1 mb below 10-15 seconds.

E: Your Download speed is 16.38 Mbps is Equal to ~ 2096.64 kbps. That means you can download 1048.32 KiloBytes in one second
E2: Nodownload once did have a christmasmod, but that was some years ago.

Yes it does for this time

for example a new player is searching for a ND server(no bullshit extra just the stock 6 maps), and he spotted our ND.
When he connects he noticed he need to download some xmas shit, which he won't like due he likes just a stock server with no addons.
That means he will disconnect instant.

There were maps that are max 2MB and who always are very good and attract players, but its not allowed to due the fact of the concept of No Download(to keep the downloading at a minimum).
