Thats a good point, almost all clans usually have a main page/portal when they visit a certain clan website.. afaik the old TWC forums which was powered by phpBB had a good main page as well.. that would also might bring advantage and benefit alongside a great layout as well..

yea I have always wonderd about that aswell, my old clan we also got first on portal and then click a tab to see forums.
I thought it was strange but not unhandy to first come into forum. (for members it is handy to come straight into forum,
while for just regulars or new people it's nicer to have a portal that gives a nice overview)

When someone doesn't have any forum buddies it says: "X doesn't have add any buddy."

I thought TWC had a new active mst no? Afaik the msts promised to do the moderation tasks themselves without the need of current moderators if i remember..

Maybe busy with other things and as I guess forums moderation isn't the most urgent part.

I'm open for a forum-moderation status, but I think it's not necessary and I'm too new here as member-being.

There is no portal page because so far we have not seen any need for it. All the things to be seen or "regular portal pages" like in the examples posted in this thread are on our main-page aswell (shoutbox, teamspeak viewer, donation, date and time, birthdays and other events, search buttons, an overview to members etc. aswell as on overview concerning the most important subforums).

The single thing we do not as visible as other portal pages is the latest threads - while they take up a huge space on most example pages, we only use the latest threads in the sidebox on mainpage. Which is enough, imo, since not all latest threads and not even all latest threads in e.g. the important news section are things everybody needs to get kicked in the face instantly aka. for most people it is way more useful to have an overview about the whole subforums in order to see if there are e.g. new posts in the vietnam server base, or in the ZaR scrimteam section.

So yeah, for totally new guests it might be handy - for those who are not already up for being mainly interested in a certain twc server and thus would rather wanna read stuff from there instantly.
Apart from that, afaik most guests are directed to the application section first anyways. Also, i personally dislike telling people on a portal page about what are the things they have to read/be interested in and what not. I prefer giving them the overview and let them choose for themselves.

Oh, thaaat. We remove it end of january, when the temporary advent calendar gifts (like dominators banner) get removed aswell.

PS. Christmas might be over, but the snow is coming just now - we got a huge snowstorm in berlin recently :O
