Well nice to see that you people from estonia and finland are so eager to have the meeting take place there.

However, all the talks are nonsense if there is nobody willing to actually get up and plan/manage stuff.

The last years the meetings have been in NL and germany because thats places where I can book houses or camping spots on my own, I can mail with the people there, I know about general prices and all that. However, all the countries further away like slovenia and finland - idk anything. I barely know the capital cities, yknow? :P

So, IF there shall be a meeting in another country, and I always say that now for years and years, then i need someone from THAT country who also comes to the meeting and plans it with me.
There might be possibilties with english to a certain extent, but especially smaller houses or camping spots in areas that are not so tourist-attractive tend to be a lot cheaper (which is good for us) but also without english-speaking people (bad for us, because I then can not contact them).

From what I see atm is that we have roughly the same amount of people interested in both, finland and slovenia. However, while the finland-side only talks about coming to a meeting there and all that, the slovenia-side with megaslow actually already offered and even started planning a meeting, including looking for regions, areas, houses, camping spots and all.
For now it looks more like its gonna be a slovenia-meeting - unless one of the finside gets up and going and convinces the majority.



tl;dr: To plan a meeting i need people from that country who help me. I have someone for a meeting in slovenia but none for finland --> atm its #TWC2017inSlovenia

Sooo, it is exactly a month since my last post. So far nobody from finland or estonia has contacted me with any kind of plans or ideas concerning how to make a meeting in finland/estonia happen.

Thats why as of now its decided the meeting will be in slovenia next year. I know there already have been quite some people expressing their interest in a meeting in slovenia (especially the guys living there ofc), but i would like to know more.
We will try to get a nice cheap house for us somewhere with a lake or the sea and some fun stuff and cities to visit all around.

Who else wants to come to a meeting in slovenia next year? (Not minding atm the exact date or HOW to get there. we can figure that out later together. its all about general interest atm).

What are the times you guys would prefer for a meeting? It would be max. 1 week (maaaybe less but most houses will be rentable only for a week or more).

Are there any of you who have some kind of knowledge or connections that could help us plan the meeting? (do you know someone who has houses for rent and might give us a good price, do you know vacation houses in general in slovenia that are rather cheap or at a very nice spot, do you have other ideas for a meeting as to where we should go and if we should take an apartment, a house, go camping or whatever?)

Once we know a rough number of people who wanna come we can start looking for specific houses that fit the number of participants, are cheap and ofc are rentable for us at the time we want to go there.

I got some more info about the meeting coming!

Sooo, from what it seems our date will be again end of july, to be more precise somewhat around the 20-31 july 2017.
We are not completely certain yet for how long the meeting will be, but max. and most likely 7 days. Most houses can be booked very well for a full week. The arrival date is usually a saturday, so maybe a meeting from 22-29 july would be an idea?

Before I get into booking a house though I need to know WHO wants to come and WHEN they would like the meeting to happen.

Also I would prefer the meeting to take place somewhere north in slovenia - yknow most of us will come from the north and you need, especially if you go by train, about 10 hours to get through slovenia. I thought of Ljubljana as some kind of endpoint, so anything south of that town or east of that town is in our "rather not"-zone, and all the vacation houses north and west of Ljubljana are in our "yes please"-zone.
Ofc if we find a really cool place or a really good offer we can go in our "rather not"-zone, but for a first search I would stay in the "yes please"-zone.
Does anyone of you KNOW good places there where we can get a cheap house for several people end of july for a full week?

I personally found a town called...Bled? near a national park with an absolute adorable lake. But that is just my kinda thing (yknow ooooh mountains, uuuuh lakes, wow a flower :P).

I dont know WHERE you want to stay. Do you guys prefer something close or in a big city? Do you want to go clubbing and dancing and in cool bars? Or do you prefer something more nature-bonded, with lakes and all that? Or do you even want to go to the sea at a beach somewhere?

Last thing, HOW much are you up to pay? Depening on the location, size, age and all that of te vacation house the prices differ a lot, so I would need to know what you guys are up to pay for a night.

So yeah, tell me guys

Well i myself won't be able to stay with you guys for a whole week because i will probably have to work, but i will still come around for a day or two.
Now about the date you are planing to book and come to Slovenia, well it is pretty good date for swimming in the lake and there's a lot of tourists around Bled then(maybe even overcrowded).
But if you are a fan of peace and nature i would more suggest a booking in Bohinj.

I don't really know about the prices but i think Bled is a little bit more expensive than Bohinj, because u can't book a place near lake in Bohinj like u can in Bled.
I can check prices out after new year and tell you.
Buuuuuuut, Bled is still closer to Ljubljana and other bigger cities, + not far away from Bohinj if you would still like to visit the place.

Ah yeah I see. Its not as close to good roads, so it takes about an hour by car to Ljubljana from Bohinj. Thats still acceptable though i think, ofc only if people prefer the nature side and want to visit a town just once or twice.

There actually are houses raaaather close to that lake, at least not much further away than some in Bled. Prices are from about 16 a night/ a person to 30 a night /a person

For those from further away (Netherlands and Belgium): There are super cheap bus tours for just about 60 euro that go from e.g. Amsterdam, Utrecht or Brussel directly to Frankfurt and from there to Ljubljana.
You pay even less than you would pay for fuel (yknow, if you would go by car) and it also doesnt take much more time than a carride!

Same goes for people from Poland, Czech republic, Hungary, Romania and even Ukraine. Just that you guys drive to Vienna first and from there to Ljubljana.

Not to mention Croatia and Serbia. Direct travels for less than 20 euro to Ljubljana :P

So people, stop whining about how far away it is and how you never will be able to go there, haha. Check the web, its globalization time!!!
