I wouldn't take !mute as that abusive command. Kick and splat sure are and I didn't remember you get those under level 8. Was it some day back that only above recruiter could get those, or do I just remember wrong. If not, then I apologize for that.
But still I would say none of people in ND would use kick or splat just to do straight abuse. There has been abusing problems since I first joined here and it hasn't changed. When I browse the forums, I
mainly see complaints about how some of admins doesn't give a damn (
http://board.twcclan.org/thread-5450.html ) and this could be easily solved by simply demoting the admins who didn't give a damn. Not about "abusing commands"
I see lots complaints about unbalanced teams, which really pisses me off, since there usually are some cases when unbalanced teams are more stable than balanced. If there is 6 vs 9 people automatically start shouting in chat "even teams", without even looking at the current situation.
I have seen lots of complaints about swearing and foul language, what has nothing to do with commands.
I have seen lots of complaints about spawn areas, ( for example:
http://board.twcclan.org/thread-5509.html ) which we could prevent easily by telling members to check areas and rules overall more often, it's not always about commands. They don't even know they are abusing commands, because they don't know the rules. This is the wrong approach to try to fix the problem, when it's not even about members abusing, but that they don't know they are abusing.
I browsed the archive forum a bit, but couldn't find any that serious.
I remember AoC and I remember it was a failure. Members didn't know each servers rules, which made the system collapse, if I recall right. Correct me if I'm wrong. Why AoC failed? I see it like other members from other servers, didn't know the rules of that server which they got called = so they "abused" (read: didn't know the "right" punishment system = rules.) commands.
This here, is a different case. When you were AoC you needed to know every servers' rules and methods, but when you are only member of one server you only need to know its rules. In my opinion, AoC and this can't be compared, since they are two entirely different cases. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, it was a long time ago and I might not remember it right.
Would this all be easier if you just demoted everyone who "abused" commands? No need to change the system this radically when you could do it more easier.
