Mayday May put a damper on MayheM attempt at crashing the new machine and shoutbox, Maybe.

Hosters May be off today. Machine has been ordered. Now we just wait for them to set it up and Lig or John to install the forum and shoutbox plug in.

Well, since the machine has been ordered, this post wont make that much of a difference, but still...
IRC has it's pro's and con's (btw, I only have experience with Quakenet network...):

Pro's:

• Authorisation by Q (Quakenet bot)
  
• People can be set to "admin", so it's organised at least...
  
• People can be kicked/banned temp/perm.
  
• You can program bots, that answer to commands: !info and welcome messages, f.e.
  
• I bet Ligustah can even program them to show server info ^^
  
• Maybe Ligustah could program interaction between IRC chat and ingame chat
  
• Anti-flood programmed in
  
• Flags!
  
• You can slap others
  

Con's:

• Have to logon first
  
• Without Q (Quakenet only), people can steal your server right away
  
• Requesting Q takes a sh*tload of time and enough people (at least for me, 7/8 hours, it should be filled with at least 4 people)
  
• People have to visit it regular, or Q will leave again...
  

Maybe it's an idea to set up an IRC channel too?

About the new machine -_- Lig is still waiting for word from the hosting company. So as time ticks by, I am off to find some aspirins for my aching head

All those con's don't quite work for us, if we set up an IRC channel it would probably be on our own machine so stealing our server and being visited regular won't make our server go offline :P

I like the idea of an IRC channel, used it before while playing some RPG games

Little update:
Lig got the machine last night and installed some virtual machine today.
Some more things to do and not sure when the forum will be installed on the new machine.
Could happen today or tomorrow, but its also possible that it will be in the weekend.
Depends on how many time Lig has and if there are further troubles

Yes It is a virtual machine he wants to try. If it supports shoutbox like he thinks, it will stay, but if not we will go with original plan and get a bigger machine.

And as John said it may be a couple of days before new forum is up and running. Think there will be a domain name change as well because we may be keeping this one on here as a backup.
