Since the shoutbox is down and I'm kinda bored I have an idea.
We could use a channel in our teamspeak server as shoutbox, so no mic's but just the keyboard chat.
I know its not the same because you can't read the messages that were posted a day before but its kinda simular.
If anybody got a better idea which looks even more to a shoutbox and is possible to get then please reply
(IRC channel would be simular to teamspeak with only keyboard chat, but we already have a teamspeak channel so getting an IRC channel would cost to much energy)

Good news is that in about 6 more days the new machine will be rented. Dunno how long it will take to move the forum to it, but soooon man sooooon!!
In the mean time this sounds like a nice idea John. I'm willing to try anything you set up.
As for other options..dunno for sure but what was that thing xettex was talkin about a few weeks ago. I remember people saying it was like xfire but just for us. Ignore this if I am talking about something completely off the wall here :P

I have played around with that thing once. I managed to make it authenticate against a Drupal installation, and in fact also wrote a plugin that would allow it to authenticate against this forum (which means that you would be able to log in with your forum login).
But after all it's more like a private messenger network, like a private XFire (with less features).

We might as well get an IRC channel then, which I'd prefere. TS was made for talking, not for chatting.
There is nothing as good as IRC for group chatting.

It's called Xfire and it has a chat room feature
