Totally agree with you.

Hi lads.

I was talking to $4m a bit bout introducing a sort of exam/test for our newcomers. I see often new members not knowing the rules (where are spawn area's) or don't know how to act in certain situations (when to mute or how to act when someone is cheating)

I think this can be improved by stating a little exam after a trial period of a new recruit. I think of multiple choice. Things It should cover are:
  1. how to deal with cheaters
  2. spawnkill area's
  3. what to do with players that are disrespectful
  4. how to act when guests or members aren't following rules.
    Spoiler
    - No multi satchels.
    - No selfkilling in fights - No excessive suicide spam
    - No glitching.
    - No mortar blocking.
    - No xp whoring.
    - No excessive pushing or blocking of other players.
    - No artillery/smoke spam (3 times succeeding each other)
    - English in mainchat.
    - No console spamming or excessive use of binds.
    - No offensive language (in binds.)
    - No excessive voting.
    - No complaining about the way another player plays.
    - No complaining of a players weapon choice.
    - No name calling, swearing, cursing, rascism, antisemitism and/or disrespect.
    - No sexist talk to the ladies in-game. Our servers are not a dating site.

  5. lvl hunting
  6. activity on server and forum
  7. what to do to keep teams fair

I think it can be lots of fun. Don't look at it as school, but think is great multiple choice questions and answers. Humor is the key I think.

First of all I fully agree for djuki's idea

Quote:We're not talking about friggin league of legends
Secondly, this really fuckin made my day XD

And finally, I don't agree with changing the soldier chargetime because it will affect mortars too, and people will complain for sure, and I really don't want people complaining... Shy also it won't help at all, since IF you survive the first shot, you have all the time you need to get the kill...

I think that djuki's proposition is very good and if it was ever to be proposed to the server, ppl from other servers who would like to transfer should be also included.
Recently we had problems with giving bans to people who didn't actually deserve it so such testing should prevent situations like this from hapenning.

Djuki's idea reminds me of what they require you to do when you want to play Arma 3 Life (hardcore roleplaying mod). You have to fill in an application and then have a little interview on teamspeak, before they let you play the mod.

First: What exactly do you have in mind Djuki? Give everyone the same questions?, multiple versions?, by pm/xfire?, teamspeak interview?, is there a guarantee that the recruiters have enough time?

Second: I suppose that there is also a strong correlation between maturity and understanding of the rules. Someone who isn't mature but knows the rules shouldn't be able to join in my opinion. The current system seems to have improved the maturity level of the memberbase at least a little and mainly deals with maturity, but it's still not 100% perfect since it doesn't actively check rule-knowledge. Thus this idea could be good addition to the applicationsystem.

Third: I believe that these things may as well be asked ingame to the applicant, before accepting his trial-time
