No Download Add ONE more map to ND (archived by Chris)
#1
Okay, i know that due to the nature of the server this suggestion will remain as it is but before archiving the thread i wanted to ask your point of view on this issue:

Why don't we add another map to NoDownload?
Not some crazy frag map, but a famous map that everyone has played like: Supplydepot, Adlernest, Venice...

If you look at this list you can see that some of the maps i cited are even more played than the official ones.

At this point, you could say that if I wanted to play these maps I could go to BG or HS... but the fact is: how many regular players from ND (non-members) play in these server? We love ND how it is, but why not add one (or more) maps to the server?

I know the server is called "NoDownload" but, in fact, you have to download both jaymod and twc paks for it to work.
Can a 2 mb map (that most of the players already have) make that big difference?

Pros:
More map to play Biggrin
More regular users (my guess)

Cons:
It's not really "NoDownload" anymore... in a map sense
Less "guests"
??

Okay, i know this is hot issue but I'd like to hear your 2 cents Smile

Well I couldn't agree more. 6 maps only really get a bit boring after a while. So adding 1, 2 or 3 new popular maps would be great. Of course the server would sort of lose the original meaning of 'no download' but I suppose most of the players could live with downloading a map for maximum 1 minute? Well I could at least.

But on the other hand I can imagine there are many other people around here who just like those classic maps and don't anything to be changed..

Anyway, I agree and I'm very curious to hear what other people think about it Wink

We (Atleast I) have seen the "NowDownload" -server.

I dont know do I remember correctly, but its activity dropped. So I'm not with that idea.
And what do I know about players who just play randomly, they want to play only original maps. I know couple in real life who only search for 'NoDownload' servers.

For sure, the idea is good and I would love to get new maps to play. It is getting boring to us. We have played couple years in same maps, but some visitors havent.

I think it is more like principle. When there stands: "No Download", there wont be any other maps/mods than normal maps and original stuff.

Ofc i like the idea, but i suggested it also a year ago when i wasn't an supreme.
But its stated as No Download and you know what that means.

I know we need to download now also 3 pk3's to get playing in ND so i don't see the problem of it but as i said its No Download so the MST won't agree with it Smile
Altho i would like to test to see if activity will drop or not.

No, we dont want to test it anymore.

When the people realise the 'testing' line has been crossed? How many members do we want to lose untill we notice that No Download is No Download.

Just dont change anything, nothing at all.

I see your point but i think it's much more simple than that... most of the players wants to play in a server that is populated and without 20mb+ of stupid soundpacks to download.

It's no mystery that BG right now is not doing really well (no offence, it's just a sad truth)... and after 2 yrs i don't really want to play in a server with a different mod, different people etc... you know what i mean?

Ok, i understand the principle... but that is the reason?

I could argue that a lot of players would like to play more maps than the standard 6 and go to other servers since the activity on BG is pretty low... and HS is not really obj-oriented...

We have plenty of other servers, for example beginners or Headshot, with the other maps. Yes, they have other mods, but we used to have a server with Jaymod and other maps than the original ones, but NoDownload means, you don't have to download maps. Our activity/popularity is mostly because we have the original maps. I like the idea, but just not for NoDownload, what we could suggest is to bring back life to -TWC|Blue (the Jaymod server with the other maps), but I fear for the popularity of the server.

When we will get a night like this again.

Let's get real here... a lot of members are leaving and activity has dropped... why not test something new? It's just a map, really... Bored

This is not because of the server, this is because the summer has ended. ET's popularity increases in May, and decreases around August/September. It has been like that for years.
