Since a lot of people here aren't familiar to Tekkit, I will be making tutorials.
All pictures are from The Tekkit Wiki.
So..
Here is a simple Q & A to answer some simple questions.
Q: What is Tekkit?
A: Tekkit is a modpack for the popular game Minecraft, designed by the Technic Team.
Q: What is a mod?
A: A modification for the game, Minecraft.
Q: How do I get Tekkit?
A: You need to purchase the game, Minecraft, first. Then download the Official Tekkit Launcher, or a cracked one if you don't have Minecraft. (Note: I will not give out any links to cracked launchers. Use Google!)
Q: How do I get to our server (Tekkit Classic)?
A: Open the launcher, select the "Tekkit Classic" modpack. Go to "Multiplayer" , select "Add Server", and then put in the name of the server (optional), then add the IP of the server.
Now, to the tutorial itself.
Getting Started
First thing you would want to do when you enter your world, is build a house ASAP. A bed would be nice too. This tutorial assumes you know the basics of vanilla Minecraft.
After you get a sturdy house, it would be essential to construct a pickaxe, hoe, and a sword. Then you should go mining, looking for ores. Notable ores to look out for will be listed here(Ones in bold are rare.) : Iron (Tannish), Coal (black), Copper (orange), Uranium (green), Tin (light grey), Silver (almost same color as Tin), and Diamond (light blue). The rest I'll explain the use of later.
You'll want Copper and Tin for making cables. You want Diamond and Iron for tools such as pickaxes and swords. Uranium can be used for generated heaps of EU (Energy Units) later.
Coal is used for recipes, as well as smelting ores.
You're going to want a lot of Iron , Coal, and Copper for the moment.
Once you have about 20 iron ore, 40 coal, and at least 20 copper, you can head back.
When you get back, you should make a furnace (if you haven't already.)
Then you might want to smelt some sand to make glass, for pipes.
Pipes
Make a chest. Put it a few blocks away from your furnace.
Make one wooden transport pipe, and a few stone pipes.
Recipe:
Transport Pipes:
In the 2nd row: put it like this: wood/iron/gold/diamond/stone/cobble glass wood/iron/gold/diamond/stone/cobble.
Then you need a redstone engine to power it. You will need a piston, some wooden gears, glass, and wood. To craft wooden gears make sticks in a diamond shape.
Once your engine is made, place your wooden pipe out a side of your furnace, and lead the rest of the pipes to a chest. Place the redstone engine near the wood pipe, and power it with a lever.
Now, when you smelt items, the engine will pump them into the chest!
