Tekkit: Plumbing!
#1
So now you have some machines to get materials for efficiently.

Now we should start getting some liquid fuel sources, such as lava and oil.

Oil you can find pretty much anywhere. They are the most common in deserts. Oil behaves just like water, except it's color is black. Oil is essential for powering some engines in BuildCraft.

In order to even pump liquids, you will need a Pump. In order to craft a pump, you will need a Mining Well.

In order to craft a Mining Well, craft this:

You may have noticed this gear like thing in the middle. That is an Iron Gear. You can craft this by crafting a wooden gear (4 sticks, diamond shape), then a stone gear (wood gear surrounded by cobble), and then an iron gear. (Stone gear surronded by well, iron.)

Now you can craft your Mining Well. After you've done that, you'll need a Tank. You can craft a tank by shaping glass like you craft a furnace or a Machine Block.

Once you have your Tank, place your Mining Well in the crafting table, with the tank on top.

Like this:

Now you can pump things. But you have nowhere to transfer the liquids to...

This is what Waterproof Pipes are for.

But in order to even make waterproof pipes, you'll need normal pipes. Look back at the first tutorial how to make normal pipes.

Next, you'll need cactus. Yes, cactus. If you smelt cactus in a furnace, you can get a Pipe Waterproof. These are used to make pipes waterproof. So, the cactus process:

1. Smelt cactus in furnace to get Cactus Dye
2. Put Cactus Dye in middle of crafting gui to make Pipe Waterproof

Now this next part is pretty simple. For example, to make a Cobblestone pipe waterproof, you would do this:

Now you have the "roads" of your water/lava/oil travel. To power a pump, you will need engines.

This is one of the few machines Redstone Engines can work efficiently on.

In order to power one efficiently with Redstone Engines, you would put an engine on each side.

Now, next is storing the liquid.

You will need Tanks (recipe above).

Place the tanks wherever you see fit. Now put your pipes to get to the tank(s). Make sure there is a pipe connecting into the TOP of the Pump. Nowhere else. Or else it won't pump.

Just put some redstone torches, and it should start pumping!

You can use this oil or water later to make sources.
