General Mute/unmute question (archived by Chuck)
#1
Heya,

I've got a question about muting. I am currently admin level 7 in ND so I am able to mute people. The thing is, if I want to do this I can't undo it. An example: A person is way out of line and keeps insulting after a warning, I mute the guy. The thing is, after a couple of minutes I want to hear what he has to say according to what he did (like an explanation, apologies or whatever). But I can't unmute. I found this rather confusing so I wanted to hear some opinions on that. Shouldn't it be when u can mute u can also unmute? Maybe we can make unmute available for level 7 or else make mute only available for when u can unmute to. This could be me just being retarded but as I said, I just want some opinions^^

Peace,

They will be auto-unmuted after 2 or 3 mins Smile Don't worry. The reason we don't make un-mute available so early in the admin ladder is because members would un-mute each other the whole time when they get auto-muted by the censor system.

Also someone randomly says "fuuu", but he didn't meant to swear. Imo, unmute should be at lvl 7.

I see both points, @ Kokok, i agree it is annoying when you know sometimes i say : God i'm playing like a noob --> muted. But i also understand the danger of members unmuting eachother and that way not behaving respectfully anymore. So i guess we'll have to bite our teeth Kokok Smile

Lo, there do I see my father.
Lo, there do I see my mother,
and my sisters, and my brothers.
Lo, there do I see the line of my people,
Back to the beginning!

Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them,
In the halls of Valhalla!
Where the brave may live forever!

+1

But. If unmute command would be from 7 level, that would be ok then member won't abuse with unmute. If someone is 7 level he is PROUD member, so trustful I think.

Hmm that's true schaapje, although I think its admin abuse to unmute other members when they swear on purpose.

Also agree with Kokok and Verci though.

Agree with Schaapje, I hate when I mute someone and lower level member !unmutes him because he knows him or that guy asked him for that. Long autounmute as it is in ND makes many people think twice before they say anything next time, that's why there isn't much swearing lately (comparing to times when members had unmute and autounmute was 1 min).

"fuuu" and other words (?) like that shouldn't be in automute.

You can say "God I'm playing awful" or something like that instead.

Well that's actually true, although as i said before, I think it should be counted as admin abuse to just unmute a player who swears un purpose.

This can be closed I think. Question answered^^

I agree with verci! If u can mute u should can unmute too! Just like Schaapje say, maybe they would do it, but i dont think so, the members have to understand that somebody who got auto-muted still have to be muted for a few mins! In my opinion:" it would be good, if members who can mute are able to unmute! They just have to check that they can not unmute everybody who derserves it to be muted. I think we can try that! If it happen as Destroy666 said, members will be disable to unmute again! "

It is only my opinion! Tongue

Just wait for 2 or 3 mins and if the mute was not correct a higher admin will unmute you most of the time. No reason to worry here.

It's not we don't trust you with the unmute command but some people are a totally different person when there are no higher admins around. We simply can't take the risk of some members abusing and damaging the servers' reputation. Also because former experiments with this turned out to be failures.
