How to check if someone's is cheating and what to do if he is?

FIRST
1. Don't let the cheater know that you're suspicious.
2. Open console (~ above tab key) and write /players, find his/her slot number


3. /follow Slot number


Now you're spectating the player.

You'll notice n00bish aimbotters right away, they aim very quick at heads only, but you also have
the more experienced aimbotters (using humanised aimbot), they are not as easy to catch. Smart wallhackers aren't easy to catch too, you need sometimes to watch demo again with /r_shownormals 1.

What to look for:

- When he/she is close-up with 2 or more players from the opposite team, you see
how the aimbot switches from one head to another (most aimbots don't aim at one
person untill he's dead, but on the nearest head.).
- The aim has a straight line from one head to another.
- After killing a player, when he is falling down, you can see the aim still follow his head.
- When a person is using wallhack, they often start shooting before (preshooting) or when player comes around the corner and sometimes even trying to shoot walls.
You can also spot wallhackers easily by seeing a demo with enabled /r_shownormals (type /r_shownormals 1 in console).

These are the main things you should look for. I actually recommend downloading
an aimbot and try it out on a server. NOT IN NORMAL, PUBLIC SERVERS of course. There
are many aimbot servers you can try your bot on. Or speccing an omnibot when they are in server. When you've tried an aimbot, you find out more how it works, and it'll be easier to know when a player is cheating.

SECOND
Now you're spectating the cheater and know he cheats you have to record some proof.
Type /record NAME in console to record.
It would be helpfull to name it like the cheaters name so you can find it again.


Make your demo long so there's enough proof on it, if your demo is too short sometimes the cheater will get unbanned.
To stop your demo type /stoprecord


If you recorded a video the demo will be in your jaymod/demos/ folder (only in jaymod, if you recorded in another mod it's in that mod folder)
If you have taken a screenshot its in your jaymod/screenshots/ folder (only in jaymod, if you made ss in another mod it's in that mod folder)

When you got the proof you can ban the cheater, if you can't ban then take a screenshot of his ip/id.
Type !fi NAME in fireteam chat (U) or with silent command if you can use them (/!fi NAME).
And make a screenshot with /screenshot or /autoscreenshot.
/screenshot takes a .tga <- can't upload it everywhere.
/autoscreenshot takes a .jpg <- can upload it everywhere.

Screens are saved in [mod_folder]/screenshots

Now you have a demo and the ID/IP you can post your proof.
Go to the Ban proof forum -> here < -
click the server and post your proof. If you're not member post the proof in Complaints base -> here <-.

If you can't upload it at forum itself, upload it at a upload site:

To watch the demo you recorded, go to the server where you recorded it and write into the console: /demo name (name = the name you've given the file when recording)

Alternatively, you can view the demos using ET_demoview which is a special tool that has gotten rid of some bugs when watching demos in ET.

Installation is easy, just unzip the et_demo_view.exe into your ET folder and launch that instead of ET.exe, load the mod of the demo you want to watch and then load the demo
It also has a lot of usefull commands such as

alt_demo_timescale <value> : speeds up the demo according to the set value when you press ALT
demo_seektime <mm:ss> : jumps to the specified time in the demo, VERY USEFUL
example: demo_seektime 15:00 : will jumps to 15:00 demo time, it will also pause the demo so just press space to start it again

And for the record: Ola and Sajed aren't cheaters! I just had to take somebody as an example.

I would like to add once again to never let someone know you think they are cheating. Do NOT accuse in public chat. Do as John has mentioned above.

I would like to add that you should never use !finger on someone you suspect unless you have silent commands. You can use /listplayers to get their ip's but not guids. Let a higher admin with silent commands get that.

Once you let someone know they are being accused and watched, they will turn off the hack or leave. Keep it silent guys and make your demo. Post it as fast as you can.

As for silent commands, you can also use commands in fireteam chat while you aren't in any. Noone will notice it.

I'll also say that you better write /r_shownormals 0 before going back to a server or you'll get kick ^^.

Ask someone with good headphones to watch demos, too much bans on sound users

Oh and shoutcaster users can see if you spec them but don't think everybody can sc..

Nice topic and very usfull for People that dont know how to detect aimbot/wh

In my old clAN i had 2 try outs to join. You had to do a skills try out and admin try out. so explain how to detect cheats. How to handle whit People that break rules .
So everbody who wanted to do join had this try out
