Steam In-Game overlay with ET (Or any other non-steam game)

Actually I never run UAC enabled and haven't in years on windows 7. A month or two ago I switched to 8 and had to mess with security policies to make things run as admin, because disabling UAC doesn't work on Win 8 without doing that.

Steam overlay doesn't work in ET... :/

Alot of people are moving to evolve. The thing is steam won't care about ET and add the features we all loved from xfire.

Yes, you are right, Steam is not going to support all the non-Steam games specifically, but they do offer the option to adding them up to show the in game status and possible to have the overlay working. And no, Steam is not going to offer the same features than XFire did, cause these are not meant for the exact same things.

Only thing i can think of that's missing from Steam is server favorites for ET.

Added this note to the OP also, but if you run into problems still after Mac's fix, make sure your XFire is closed OR the XFire in-game overlay is disabled.
Both Steam and XFire overlays don't play nice (at least with ET)

Instead i coded some rainmeter skins that also show some useful information



- Pulls info from trackbase
- Leftclick = Opens ET and instantly connects to the server
- Middleclick = Opens the trackbase website of that server
