I wasn't around for the discussion, but I went back and read it. Seemed to be some discussion about a member and his sexual preferences.

First off I want to say that I have some gay friends and to be honest they are some of the best friends a person could have. I hate gay bashing and homophobes and would stand in defense of any gay or lesbian being threatened bodily harm by someone.

However this is a game and there are very young and easily influenced members in this clan and guests who come to play here. Naive players who aren't at the age to be able to understand such things. Who will go to a big brother or sister or parent and ask what gay is because they may have seen it in our servers.

I am fine with any ones sexual preferences, but I hardly think ET or TWC is the place to advertise it. There is no reason for it as I see, since we are not a dating site. I am not sure what a member or guest is hoping to gain by it.

I would ask that our members keep their preferences out of TWC servers. It by its self is not a bannable offense, but please for the sake of our younger members leave it in your real life, your personal life. It will bring problems for you here and someone will be eventually banned for hating and disrespecting you even though they behave themselves normally otherwise.

This is simply a request that I ask of our members whether you are gay, lesbian or bi or straight. There is no need to advertise any sort of a sexual nature in this game and I hope that you understand why I ask this of you.

I'm not homophobic, as many people think it of yesterday. For me, the game server isn't a place for public announcement of this, there isn't also a place for dating, since there are other portals. Precisely because of the fact that young people play here (against the PEGI), I didn't want to see these names on the server. Personally, if someone wrote once that he's gay, for me it isn't problem, but as spamming this all the time and everywhere, that's not good behavior. Precisely for this behavior Spora has been banned.

I understand what you guys mean and I'm okay if it's not recommended. But if someone wants to put gay in his name, I still don't see a problem (as long as its not offensive).

Also what is bad with young people learning the meaning of gay? Is it such a bad thing that younger people can't know what it means?

Ofc the servers aren't for dating but that's a diffrent situation than having just gay in name.

Whats wrong with "dating" others while playing a game? Ofc there are other sites where you can date, but if you like to play et and you get to know someone who does the same and seems to be nice, whats wrong with kinda dating him/her in the game?^^

Gay - term used in TV (even news, so everyone can hear it) in many places over web including wikipedia. I knew meaning of that word when I was 7-8. I don't think it had any influence on me.
Of course there is no reason to write it in-game, agree, but also not a reason for mute/rename/kick/ban if not insulting anyone with it.

I gotta agree with this one, i think that cursing/bad language on this light level doesn't influence anyone unless it's used for insulting.

My point is that have you ever seen a gay person walk into a school wearing a tag saying he was gay? Our servers are no different than schools. We have kids of all ages here. I see no need to advertise ones sexual preference in them.

In one instance I saw in a screen shot. Spora out of the blue with no context just blurted out "I'm GAY"

No harm done, but would a gay person really do that? Or would a straight person wanting attention do that? To me I couldn't honestly say. So I called oneof my friends who is indeed gay and also a gamer. He said he would not advertise like that in a game that has no bearing on his personal life. He also added that he thought it sounded more like option number two above and said that if this guy is straight then he is being insulting.

None of that matters really, because my original post is a request not a rule.

Mimus what you and Lig found was indeed unusual and special, but I know that neither of you advertised you were looking for a partner at any time. It happened without you putting 'straight' in your name.
