Heya.

The past 2 weeks we have been working on replacement stuff for sniper.

Let me explain it to you:

In my last post I asked all of you if you would want to have the normal H&S or if you prefer to have the Infected Mod H&S.
Next to that we also asked a bunch of other questions like do you want a memberbase, bots, levels, and how motivated are you to make the server active.

We decided to work on getting Infected Mod to crash less while we wait for your answers. Unfortunately there has only been 1 person to actually say "I prefer A over B" and like 1-2 others who said in general that "A will prolly be more liked than B".

As it looks now, with the Infected Mod apparently (extracted from the opinions of the few who kind of gave one) being not as popular as the normal H&S aswell as us struggling to fix the mod without going for a tedious and huge complete wipe&rewrite, we will soon have a normal H&S server instead of Sniper.

We will keep pink because nobody was against it (mwhahah).

We will not yet introduce a memberbase for that server, meaning there will be no levels yet. Everyone is lvl 4 except for supremes, msts etc.
However, if the servers gains enough activity it might be needed to have a few admins who play there a lot so that in case of struggles there does not need to be a callout for a supreme/mst anymore. We will, if/when that time comes, decide together if we want to go for a fullout memberbase or if we just give adminlevel to a few selected players.

We are open for any suggestions regarding maps and settings and whatnot else H&S related stuff.

Concerning the Sniper Farewell Event, I recieved a PM from Hamster some time ago with a rough idea of players being xp-resetted and then fight for the most experience gained in a certain time.
Honestly I do not know what you guys would like to see in a Farewell Event. There is loads of different ways to go. A FunEvent with cool maps and everyone renames himself? An oldschool event with those beloved maps we used to play back in the day? A SkillEvent where we count kills, k/d, headshots or something similar? A PleaseDontBinoc-Event? Or just go in and have fun without counting anything? Or go for the aforementioned ExperienceEvent?
Do we want to invite people that used to be in TWC Sniper? Do we still have ways to contact them?
Should there be prizes to win?

We are, as always, open for any kind of idea you guys have. Lets plan a Goodbye together rather than having only one or two people struggle with finding the right way to say byebye to sniper.

i wanted to host an event also i asked for help about info but none replied to me so,i gave up and now someone else can host since i lost motivation. im still willing to transfer and help improve activity since i like the mod.

my ideas about H&S - there could be 2 bots for people to practice shooting and it would be nice if allied team had an option to have colt or luger, with levels i agree with mimus we should first see if the server will work out.


also if there is anything A or B related someone could create a poll and then we can decide whats best.
as mimus said we are open for more ideas/suggestions.

As Mimi said in her post the server won't have an active memberbase, which is the best way to go currently. It won't decrease the memberbase on other servers that way but people can still play on it if they feel like it.

I'm think that Farewell Event is a good idea and how will this be organized it depends from us. I do not want to impose anything but from what I can see, the interest is small so I suggest simple event when we can all meet and shoot in some nice maps

After quite an inactive time due to personal circumstances I posted a proper 'Hi lads' in the Sniper chatroom. After logging in again I noticed some guys had been talking about the closing of the Sniper server and I eventually got linked to this topic.

I think it's a shame that the Sniper server never got back to acceptable member/visitors numbers the past few years. Our Sniper server has had a huge influence on my gaming youth and it's actually quite hard to accept the fact it's a dead server.

However, sometimes closure is a good thing as well and since this thread has been set up on the 1st of April (about four months ago now) it's about time to make a decision about what way to go with this server.

Even though I would have never decided on closing down Sniper, (due to my inactivities I have nothing to say about that, don't get me wrong) I completely understand the necessity to change the gameplan if we want to make something of it again.

PS: I haven't read all the previous comments, so I don't know if it has been pointed out yet. On the Gametracker website (not sure if this is a proper measuring tool) the Sniper server is placed 92 (activity wise) Vietname is currently placed 172. Wouldn't it be a good idea to come up with an alternative for this one as well?

As long as that alternative don't include closing Vietnam server, i think it's a good choice.

I personally think that as W:ET as aged people tend to stick to the mods that are more popular; Jaymod, ETPro, Silent and ETPub. Meaning that the other mods in W:ET are slowly dying, I haven't seen a very active Sniper or Vietnam server in years. Maybe it is time to change the servers and move forward with the game, maybe look at a Silent server, or ETPro public or ETPub, switch things up and jump on the band wagon like the other clans have. We might see an increase in members coming through or just the activeness of our servers boost up, even though they are quite high.

the HA and Supremes need to take this discussion into context, and there are more then enough guests, clan friends and members that would support the views, and changes and lastly offer suggestions in what to do next.
