TWC Members ~ General activity + Steam release

Hey dear members,

as many have noticed TWC servers have been quite empty for the past few months. So this is one of the reasons I'm making this post. Last few days we had a hugh bump of activity on No Download server, and it feels so great to see players in great numbers. I know it doesn't sound much, but we should be happy for every single player or guest that plays on our servers. We have been playing with up to 10 players for the last few days, which is really good.

Also Steam has announced the realease of Wolfenstein Enemy Territory on their website, and the best part is it's FREE for everyone. We should really grab the opportunity and promote our clan in best way we can. Try to pass the news to your friends or faimily members, who knows, we may recover from the situation we're in.

I'm also concerned about some of our members, who haven't been active in a long time, therefore I'm asking every member to sign up below and let us know they're alive and still a part of our clan. Those who won't comment will be removed from the roster. This is our chance to clean up the server rosters and focus on activity with actual active members. Even 30 minutes of daily gameplay can benefit our clan. So I'm asking you yet again, please take a moment and invest some of your precious time into the game. I know it's a lot to ask, but don't you want to be part of a great, healthy and active community?

This brings us to another point where we can make TWC great again. Daily meetings have been succesful in the past, that's why it's only right to bring them back. As per usual the plan is to play everyday at certain time. I think 8 pm suits us all, and it's late enough for everyone to come home from work, and early enough to be able to go to bed at areasonable time.

There is also a more sensitive matter to clear up. Thrasher has announced he will be leaving us and leaving behind the server he took care of for so long. I know he won't be a part of this clan anymore, but all of the memories will remain. We've had a wounderful time with him trolling and goofing around, but he always kept a good spirit and great athmosphere. I asked Beniu to step in his shoes and carry on the tradition PW is having. I know and I'm sure he'll be a good person for the job. I'm currently waiting for his approval :P

And for the last part I would like to apologize for any unpleasant situations happened on the server, either that be lag, glithes, errors or just me being rude or weird. I do understand everyone of us have their problems and things to care about, but after all we share the same interests. That is Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, and for that reason I really appreciate all of you and your time spent for this game/clan.

Remember to help new players if they have any problems with reducing their ping or any problems with smoothness of the game (I mean new players from Steam).
A lot of new players come into the game and write that the game is unplayable because of lag or something but we know that can easily be changed with a commands, and most of us here have been playing ET for a long time and know some basic commands to reduce ping. We can also add banners to the servers with basic commands to make it easier.
For us it only takes a moment and we can gain many new members with such a simple thing. People appreciate the help

Thanks for the feedback, I also enjoyed the recent games.

I tried playing on Steam version and here's what I learned. When you enter a game it's pretty rough and laggy, I tried fixing it with 'r_primitives 2', that didn't work as I wished. I continued with basic settings such as 'com_maxfps 125', 'rate 31000' and 'cl_maxpackets 100'. It was a bit better, but still not smooth enough. Lastly I played with resolution and found out it works really nice and smoothly with classic full screen 1024x786 resolution. I usully have 1280x1024 on my main ET, and it works just fine.

Anyways, that' s just my experience, if you have any ideas feel free to share it with us.

r_lodbias 2 and pb_sleep 500 are another 2 I used to use to help with lag

Even if that Steam stuff will be long living, the increased player base won't be noticeable. Or at least not here as long as you can see FA, ETc and such clans around.

Regarding the lags and commands; I used to play with a config I googled for myself. Not sure if it's still there, but you can give it a try and get the original one.
