Well no, technically No Download servers in Jaymod are never No Download to begin with, since the mod itself is not included with an original, vanilla installation.

But the simple fact is that the "No Download" name is used because it has been used for years and years, even by servers that have downloads. It just indicates that the server has all of the stock maps in the cycle. At least that's how I see it.

I think people who have played the game for ages are more likely to join the server if the name is "No Download" compared to "Jaymod".

No. I see it as stock maps and a few others. Also no soundpack or weird ass mod packs. Maybe a custom menu is fine. Stop acting like there's the 10 commandments of what can be called a NoDownload server that God himself gave to ET server admins to be engraved in stone on top of a mountain.

I will say it simply this time: The name is there to get players to connect to the server. Sure it might not be 100% truthful but that's life.

Yes, it's because in the past people had shit internet connections, and the ET file transfer protocols sucked back then and still do. Especially servers that were not big brained enough to enable www_download, which made downloading large maps near impossible.

But that was in the past. The name is No Download because that's what the server has been called for the last ~11 years. Perhaps a selfcontradicting statement, but again I think people are more likely to click on what they have become familiar with in the past, so they will click on -TWC|No Download instead of -TWC|Jaymod that seems like another server, which this server that is online right now, is not.
