Hey Guys,
It's been a while since something happened on our beloved sniper server. That's why I would like to suggest a bit radical step to shake up the server in its entirety.
Let's see what we have currently:
A Jaymod 2.2.0 server with g_sniperwar 1, huge hitboxes, an acceptable user interface and a lot of bugged settings (we couldn't even fix them, because the source of the problems is unknown). And that's all; we can wait for more upgraded versions, but I don't think that Jaybird would come back with a newer jaymod...
And this is what I suggest:
The newest version of N!tmod (which is 2.3), g_war 2 (only sniper + there are some more sniperwar specific settings to make the ingame experience even better). Customizable hitboxes (the default hitboxes are not house sized, and it's possible to apply etpro aka real body hitboxes in the config file). The user interface is much better, I mean it contains a lot more options to choose. And one of the most iconic part of this mod: lua scripts, yes it's possible change even more mod related settings. + N!trox* is still kicking so there might be some more upgraded N!tmod versions. (I've already told my opinion about the 2.3 version in an other thread, but let me repeat: It's a fine piece of work!)
About the in-game experience/physics:
There are 2 types of players:
- Leaners: their playstyle doesn't require any special environmental setting... no matter what mod are we talking about.
- Quickscopers: I've tried every possible binoc movement on a nitmod sniper server, and the only thing I can say is this: it's perfect! Actually there is no difference between Jaymod and N!tmod when it comes to dynamic sniping. Run+scope, jump+scope, prone+scope etc. Every binoc sniping movement work properly. (I did it on my own localhost so I'm not talking about official, dedicated servers...)
So, I've already started discussing the topic with MSTs/sniper HAs and most of them gave their positive feedback about a possible change. And now I think it's time to let you know the actual happenings behind the scenes: Please give your thoughts, opinions, ideas and suggestions about the topic.
Have a nice day!
