WiFi Extender. (archived by NightFall)
#1
Hello,

I recently bought a WiFi Extender WLX 2007.

It will popup in my screen as 'Sitecom-extender'. -> I connect.
Going web-browser - login with username/pass 'admin' -> Succesfull.

Now I want to extend an exisiting WiFi signal, I pair with that signal. -> Succesfull.
An new signal has been made and its name automatically goes 'Existing name.EXT' -> EXT=EXTENDER.
This new signal I made has the same password as the exisiting one.
Once this all happened I have faster internet but with the same password as the existing signal.
Ofcourse I want to change that password - which seems impossible.

Once I reconnect to my own EXTENDER it wouldn't let me go to the admin panel direction anymore.
I also tried - login - change name from extender and password - then pair with the exisiting signal, but this fails and must let me hold the fucking OPS button 30+ seconds again becouse it seems totally blocked/ not reachable after that.

Anyone knows a proper installation tutorial? I'm really mad and angry since I know it's very simple, did it twice before but somehow I cant get it working the way I want.

If someone has experience with this, I hope you can write a small tutorial yourself since I guess that would be enough.
Thanks for reading and taking your time.

best regards from the one and only Fox.

Out of curiousity:

1) Why would you want to change your password, I have no experience with wifi extenders theirself that much, but if you connect them to your network I assume you can just use the same password since it is the same network anyway?
2) Wifi Extenders aren't supposed to make your wireless faster, they actually decrease the speed but increase the range.

1. Me and my brother want to use it, not other people that are living near/around me.
2. I know its about range, just said 'faster' as that's what I experience.

So you have now a signal "wlan" and a signal "wlan.EXT" ?

this is from the german support website:

http://www.sitecomlearningcentre.com/de/...0festlegen?

And means smth like:

Q: Can I give my Range Extender a different securitykey /wlan password?
A: No, the key from your router and the extender habe to be the same...

So I guess thats not possible.

you re welcome.

What works is:

you can use e.g. a laptop and place it where ur extender is atm.
Then connect with this laptop to the wlan and make with this constructed connection a new connection / hotspot (you maybe know this from ur smartphone). You can configure this new one with separate name and password.

But probably you dont want to use a laptop for this case.
So (I think) it should be possible to replace this laptop with a router which can do this job too. (ive never tried that)

If this is important to you you can give it a try. You can buy cheap (used) routers in the net.
