How to mirror a link? (archived by NightFall)
#1
Hi guys,

For work related business I'm looking for a way to mirror a link. I'm not sure how to do so and do I need a server or whatever to host it again? I'm a numb in these kind of things so I hope there might be someone here to help me out.

Another option is downloading the content of a certain page, which would give me the same effect.

The reason I need this is because I need to file the screens another party send us of their design to make a digital catalogue. Their design was full of spelling/grammar mistakes, but they were too much of a cheapskate to pay the 30eu copywriter check. We want to cover ourselves in case they take this link down and blame us of the spelling mistakes. When we've got a copy of what they have sent, we'll have solid proof in case anything goes wrong

Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to host a file on the internet to send it to someone (or couple of persons ?)

If yes :

Create an account

Upload a file

Get the link and share it with the person(s) by sending him/them an email.

if no :

I think what you are looking for are web spiders/crawlers/scrapers (the terms are mostly interchangeable). That is, if the files are publicly accessible on the web. If it is accessible and allows crawlers you can try to submit it here for addition to their index: http://archive.org/web/

If there is a web page that somehow contains/shows all the files you can try to CTRL + S the page, most browser should download all files related to that page automatically.

If they lie on some kind of file server, you might want to look into tools like rsync, though those only work in some specific circumstances and/or require special protocols.
I'm quite busy, so unless it's a quick thing or really urgent I am unlikely to be able to answer PMs throughout the week, but I try to reach out to everyone who contacted me during the weekends. If it's urgent, you can also contact any of the supremes, they can do a lot of things or relay directly to me if necessary.

Thanks for your replies! Lig your downloading option worked perfectly. I can also view this offline meaning I have a hardcopy in case they take the link down. Thanks for your advice!
