You'll get it for free during the first year, but you can keep it forever.

If you choose that option on the upgrade Spoiler![]() Quote:Another question: if I update windows from the notification in bottom right what version is it? Preview or a version like home edition? Depends what version of Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 you have. If it's Windows 7 Home Basic / Windows 7 Home Premium / Windows 8 / Windows 8.1 -> then it will be Windows 10 Home. If it's Windows 7 Professional / Windows 7 Ultimate / Windows 8 Pro / Windows 8.1 Pro -> then it will be Windows 10 Pro. (04-08-2015, 06:29 PM)Andre Wrote: it will be free and your forever, without spend anything. And like people mentioned before, the upgrade is available for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 for free FOR ONE YEAR, but when you update within that one year, the license stays forever... UNLESS you change your motherboard of your rig. This is because the Windows 10 license is tied with the old OEM license, hence being tied with your hardware. More reading on this here. TL;DR version: If you get a new motherboard, your Windows 10 license will no longer be valid (it will think it's a new computer entirely), and you will need to buy a full license. |
