Forum Can we please get a new supporter? (archived by NightFall)
#21
(30-07-2015, 09:28 PM)Chris Wrote: Why use the ticket system when I can just message them on Steam or private message?

So everybody involved, including other potential supports or admins can see what has been done, and why it was done.

(30-07-2015, 09:28 PM)Chris Wrote: I never said the supporters had to be on the servers 24/7, but they should be atleast somewhat active on the forums, if not regularly. For example, iTim has been inactive for months and he is still supporter. (No offense to iTim)

iTim being inactive is entirely unrelated to your request. Tech is online a lot - probably more than anyone else on this forum. If you submit tickets and they regularly take more than 24h to close, that is when we are in need of more supporters.

(30-07-2015, 09:28 PM)Chris Wrote: Also, I've been told by Snacky that sometimes his tickets have gotten closed when nothing has actually been done.

I'm not going to have a discussion based on hearsay. As I said above, if you actually start to use the proper way to interact with supporters and you are still not being helped in a timely manner, we can talk about adding new supporters.

(30-07-2015, 09:34 PM)Sky Wrote: if i may say something serious here: too many supporters is better than too few
let me correct myself, you just CAN'T have too many supporters

I do have a very different opinion on that, but maybe that is just because I have a different perspective on these things than you. Having too many people for tasks like these causes a lot of overhead.
Suppose we have 3 supporters and people like Chris are too lazy (correct me if I am wrong) to use the ticket system. So they PM one of them on server. But because people are generally very impatient (this is not to say anything about Chris, just my overall experience with such requests) they will soon message another supporter with the same request. So at some point we'll have two supports trying to serve the same request, which at least will have one of them waste some time on finding out it has already been done, or in the worst case will lead to conflicting changes being made (we had all that in the past).

(30-07-2015, 09:34 PM)Sky Wrote: but on the other hand, chris you're making no sense lol, people don't always wanna do what you ask them right away, that's why people submit tickets and supporters solve them when they have got the time.

That is the whole point indeed.

(30-07-2015, 09:34 PM)Sky Wrote: But I must say mimus, that 3 days to solve a ticket, is like 2 days too much imo, especially if it was something that could be done in few mins

Please re-read what she wrote, based on this text I'm assuming you misunderstood it.

I really hope you don't think we're entirely opposed to your suggestion, or that we disagree with it for no reason. If at any point there is an actual problem with the current system, we'd be more than happy to improve it to make it more efficient. If, however, you are not using the tools that we provide for these things it is really none of our business to fix that, I hope you can understand that.

I'm quite busy, so unless it's a quick thing or really urgent I am unlikely to be able to answer PMs throughout the week, but I try to reach out to everyone who contacted me during the weekends. If it's urgent, you can also contact any of the supremes, they can do a lot of things or relay directly to me if necessary.

I3 days was just a guess by me, cause its the longest possible time. If u want an actual time i am certain about, there is a ticket from a bit ago (like one and a half month) which got a reply (that way we can see the timestamp from when it was solved) and that was just a few hours after the ticket was posted

And how is that unrelated? iTim, is inactive, it's weird to save him as supporter, since he is gone, theres possibility that there would not be this topic if someone more active would take Tim's spot.

one active supporter is not enough dear MST's, listen to the crowd Tongue
i understand your point ligustah, but 2 active supporters wouldn't be too much, don't you think?

And what Sky wrote is everything Me and maybe others want, or at least we wish. Out of all supporters Technine is the only, active, probably. But even he can be afk sometimes. 2 ACTIVE supporters are not that much.

Ligustah, Mimus, look at those posts, look at the results of the pool, that says much, everything. I think, that TWC is based on democracy and it should apply here. :>

why dont veli be supporter again?

Well I also sent a ticket yesterday, it's about the Shoutbox and you all know about the spam there. I don't think that it is so hard to delete an OBVIOUS spam post, just one click. Sorry if I am wrong but I also think that we need at least one other supporter.

And about the ticket system, I will continue to use it but it would be good to see a result and not only after two or more days

When i used to be supporter ( setting users , moderate, remove post, bans etc ) i always replied and fulfilled tickets the same day ( unless i was sick or irl stuffs to do )couse most of things take max 5 minutes.
And i was the only supporter for a while.

I'm gonna be honest , take a supporter that spend less time in spamming and more interested in resolving the probs. Tongue

No hard feeling plz.

Because adding a new supporter, and removing an inactive one are two completely different things. Even if we removed iTim now we won't necessarily add a new one to replace him, unless we feel Tech can't keep up with the amount of support required, or if he asks for a helping hand for it.

We are listening, definitely. But the crowd is apparently uninformed, because none of the reasons that were brought up have ever been backed with any sort of factual data. We do appreciate and encourage participation, but we'll also make sure that no decisions are rushed just because a few people think it's good. What you're calling the crowd are in fact only around 10 people, if you see this thread. Adding a new supporter may seem like a minor thing, but it means work for us beyond just adding permissions to a member that I don't think is necessary.

As I mentioned above, we've always supported democratic decision making, you can see proof of that all around the forum, and we actually went pretty far personally as well to defend that. As with many suggestions in the past, however, we're going to make sure that decisions are made based on verifiable facts.

I keep hearing that the forum is a mess. I only see two pathetic guys sending some spam in the shoutbox. I don't see any tickets about it, and neither I or Mimus have received any notice of that. So not a single member of this "crowd" has bothered going the proper way about it.

I banned both of them for now, by the way

We don't ban people on servers just because a few people want it to happen. We ban for violations of our ruleset. We don't promote members to supremes because they have two or three friends rooting for them.
Nobody wants decisions to be made based on rumours, right? It may be in your favor this time, but it might not next time.

Just to give you guys an idea of what the ticket system looks like at the moment.

There is not a single ticket submitted during the past few days (except for one ticket by Hani that is not shown here and has nothing to do with spammer or anything alike).

As for your report, Poseidon, you did not submit a ticket for it. I saw you clicked the "report" button in the shoutbox, but that one doesn't show up for our supporters and it's a feature that is not really used too much by anyone. That's probably a failure on our side, as I can see that it seems to be the right thing to do. We might simply remove that link or have it send people to the actual ticket system in future.

This is the place to submit any forum related support requests:

I don't think anyone expects or wants us to make uninformed decisions based on what the crowd is yelling. The loudest group isn't necessarily the majority.

-- Mimus & Ligustah

Ps: We are indeed considering appointing a new supporter, but none of the argument brought up in this thread have changed anything about the direction of our decision making.
If you feel tickets are being worked on too slowly, we get that. If you feel that you need a supporter available 24/7, we see that. But please give us actual proof of any alleged deficiency, as we feel the current form of discussion is just doing injustice to the hard work done by Tech.

Pps: As mentioned earlier we cannot and will not consider arguments by people who are not even using the system as it is intended. If you don't like the system as a whole, feel free to make suggestions for improvements around it.

I will not answer to your post now, I will be busy gathering "evidences" (lolz xDDD)
I want to say one thing

I will not point out, Mimus and Ligustah, but few things in your post is just terrible for you to say. You CAN'T talk like that about people having diffrent opinion
