Lag (archived by Mimus)
#1
Hello, the past week i have been experiencing frequent lagging online. In ND as well as Vietnam. Haven't tried other servers. My ping is around 40. It's irregular sometimes a minute no lag. But most of the time I have lag spikes. Every so many seconds, especially when fighting. So I die a lot... Frustrating. Sometimes the lag is 1 second, just so I can die. But sometimes it's even in the spawn for like 30 seconds or so. Really annoying. That's why I don't play longer that about 10 minutes at a time anymore. Because of ragequit Pcsmash
Somebody with tips or solutions? If so please provide clear explanation, because I'm not a real computergeek Normal

Maybe a new software on your PC thats callin home or search for updates?

Teamspeak has no effect on my connection, but when i hear webradio i got those lags too.

Vegehan, I have 2 ideas for you that worked for me:

1. Restart your router

If it does not help then

2. Install cFosSpeed software - it calibrates Internet connection and improves ping. It costs EUR 15.90 but it is worth as it helped me to fix manage program that use Internet eveon on my previous poor computer from 2002. See it here:

There might be other factors causing lagging, it is worth to try these ones.

First off, is there anything that you have to done with your ET this week that might have caused it? Like for instance reinstalling it?

I used to have problems with lagspikes after I installed the 2.6b version.
What worked for me:
Go to the "pb" folder in your Wolfenstein Enemy Territory folder and then execute the "pbweb" and let the batch do its updates.

Can also just use the cvars /pb_sleep 500 and /pb_system 0 (system has to be done before connecting) to lower the PB lag

Well I have a list of things that you could check, first off are the easiest ones which you probably have tried already but I'll still mention them.

Check your /rate and /cl_maxpackets using the console. For a while I have had problems where my rate would reset to 5000 at the beginning of each map or whenever I minimized/maximized ET. So every time it resets, the lag starts.
Secondly, what djuki said above, /r_primitives 2.

And another thing I noticed is that when you have integrated graphics and a graphic card (NVIDIA or AMD) like I have, make sure that ET uses your dedicated graphic card and not the integrated one as the first one is probably more powerful.

Hey iTim, I don't have this "pbweb" file in my ET folder, I only have a single exe file there: pbsvc.exe. What now?
I also suck some lagspikes now, so I must try the tips the others shared here.
