Lags in Panzerwar (archived by Mimus)

Hello TWC,

Everytime I connect to your PanzerWar server, I seem to lag to death there.
I already tried lag-removing console commands such as :
/rate 25000 or 32000
/pb_sleep 500
/cl_timenudge 40
/cl_maxpackets 100
/snaps 40

Also tried setting Auto Rate to server max, and my connection type to LAN/Cable/xDSL.
Yet there are still lags, and it becomes unable to play for me :S

The thing I noticed was when I tried to set my connection type, it doesn't save the setting.
If I set it on LAN/Cable/xDSL, press Apply, and check options again, it says connection type 'Unselected'.

Maybe thats the issue?
Perhaps someone can help me

Where are you from? Do you lag also on another TWC or non-TWC servers?

I live in Holland, ZonE has told me the servers are hosted in Germany.
And I haven't checked other TWC servers, so I'm not sure
I don't seem to lag AT ALL on my clan's servers, though.

We have allot of member from Holland and I self come from Holland too.
Besides that is Germany pretty close to Holland and shouldn't be the reason why you're lagging.

We've had complains about ND lagging (which doesn't lag for me) but never about Panzerwar so far I can remember.

/rate 25000 sets you're connection type to LAN/Cable/xDSL.
Your connection type probably changes to unselected because your rate is none of the numbers that fit with an option. (ex: 25000 for LAN/Cable/xDSL)

Thanks for informing me about that, never knew rate would auto-change connection type.

I'll try to use 25000. Perhaps that'll do the trick

I think I know because somebody else had the same problem (the unselected thing) and we fixed his

John, what you said didn't work :S
I set /rate to 25000 and selected LAN/Cable/xDSL but lag is still harshly there. Not even a bit less =/

Forgive me for double post,

I managed to solve problem. I had the 'Auto Rate' setting on 'Server Max'.
That in combination with the manual /rate in console doesn't work.
I disabled it and 90% of lags is gone, I just lag a little but its not THAT bad that I can't play.

maybe the topic is a little out of date but what u sad about ND is not totally true lately i got the same issue i got lag not all the time but with breaks of 30 sec and each lag is an heavy lag that brings my ping 2 999 it was with wireless connection so i tried wired and still had same issue and nobody in my house was downloading at all.Never had it before
