If you dont want to see the ads in xfire that seems to be useless Try this one,
1)Open your Internet Explorer
2)Go to Tools-->Internet Options-->Security-->Select on Restricted Sites
3)Click on "Sites" bar
4)type on the first box ".xfire.com" (without quotes)
5)Click "Add" Bar
6)Click Close
7)Click on Apply and OK,
8)Now log off and relog in ur xfire,

Attached with IE? Are you serious...? Why would they need IE to attach ads to own program? I don't think any developer is that stupid.
It most probably works in IE because it sucks and the Security tab also influences other applications for some reason.

In fact, like many other programs, XFire uses the IE web site renderer component that ships with windows, because it's an easy out of the box
way of making a program "properly" (if you can even say that about IE) show HTML.
The very same technique is used for the small ads frame at the top of the XFire client, which can actually sometimes be seen showing IE error messages.
I'm quite busy, so unless it's a quick thing or really urgent I am unlikely to be able to answer PMs throughout the week, but I try to reach out to everyone who contacted me during the weekends. If it's urgent, you can also contact any of the supremes, they can do a lot of things or relay directly to me if necessary.
