I just mention the situation when joint changed sk rule - it was chaos. This can be repeated and we can lose a lot of regular players.

But you can't really compare this to one another. Changing the sk rule surely caused a big mess, but why would adding 1 or 2 new maps cause the same mess? We just have to think it out and prepare everything very well. There is no need to hurry, we have all the time of the world to think about an appropriate map etc

Personally I think that would be too much to download to still call the server No Download. Maybe rename it then? (Blue ^^)
We have other servers that could use attention, one even that fits your description... Allstars.

Indeed we should probably change the name, but the name should also not be so much different from No Download in my opinion, otherwise people wouldn't recognize the server anymore and maybe think it's gone.

@Alltstars: Well that's the well known problem in ET nowadays. It is sooo damn hard to establish a whole new Server and make it active. I witnessed so many attempts to do that, and all of them failed. We would need much more advertisment and people who are actually willing to help in order to make Allstars any active, but I don't see that at the moment, so I think it would be quite nonsense to try changing anything there and hope for people to come.

Yes: sure it will be nice espically for rail but lol Rail is the only axis map in the standard six maps when then they should replace for a other axis map.

1) Can you or Axel or anyone else who was here back then explain what exactly you changed and why it failed so much? Maybe we can learn out of those mistakes now and try to make it more clever this time
2) I was thinking about the same, maybe we could add Caen as a new map. There, too, Axis have to attack, which would keep it a little more interesting for both teams, if they can so to say 'swap' their positions at least for one map.

Players are the most important. This is a bit too risky. We can loose them easily.

That is why we would only test it for 1 or 2 weeks. And we could make announcements that we will only do it for a little time at first, so if they really hate the new map so much, they could just return to the server when the test-phase is over. Besides, Rail Gun gets nextmap-voted soo often, why would anyone complain about removing it now and replacing it with an arguably much more interesting and entertaining map?

Minas Tirith is the worst map was ever made for ET. Nobody is playing it on NAM.

But if we will start downloading maps, my activity on TWC servers will be very poor.

Minas Tirith is indeed a bad idea, it's way too big and actually takes too much time to download. We can't just propose every map that comes to our mind now, it has to be a well known one and one which has about the same size like our current 6 maps.

Cmon Duka, we want to add 1 or 2 new maps, which would mean 1 or 2 times a download of about 30 seconds maximum. Is that really such a problem? And since we only want to use well-known maps, the chance is high that you already downloaded it somewhen in your ET time and don't have to do it again now. Even if not, I doubt your computer will explode if you have 1 or 2 new files on it


Overall I have to thank you all for voting so far. It's great to see so many people being in favour of this proposal. I have to say it again, this is not meant to be a big revolution or something. Just 1 or 2 new maps, the other 5 or 4 will remain the same so all the people who love stock-maps still have plenty of them to enjoy. But still, if this whole thing ends up in a disaster (which I can hardly imagine), I will gladly take responsibility too and take all the blame on me.
