Hello there, I know what you're thinking: 'Oh please not again!' But before you instantly vote for 'No', let me explain to you what I am proposing and why I am doing it.
Today in ND a nice little chat about possibly adding new maps to the server came up. In fact about half of the people took part in it and supported the idea. I think that's mostly because by now we have gathered a quite big group of guests who have been playing in ND for several months and get a little bored of the same maps.
I personally thought this is only a phenomen among Clan-members, who are here for a long time and obviously need some changes now and then. But as we all know ET is a rather old game and there are hardly any people who discover it as a new game and play it for the first time. That's why we don't really have to aim to satisfy newbies in this game anymore, which was the case with these easy stock maps. We can surely expect them to get along in some other maps as well.
The map Rail Gun gets skipped through the !next map vote every second time anyway, so we wouldn't even have to add more maps, but simply replace new maps with Rail Gun or Radar (where most ppl complain it's too easy for Allies with Double Jump anyway).
I'm guessing the most suitable and also most popular maps besides our stock maps are: Supply Depot, Venice or Snatch.
Of course there will come up the usual complaints:
"
1) It's NO download, we can only have stock maps!
2) The server is doing great, why change anything?!
3) We would have to rearrange the SK areas and Wj rules for the new maps
4) Probably something else which I didn't think of now
"
Solution:
1) It would be only 1 or 2 (more) downloads. Everyone has to download the Jaymod file anyway, when he connects to our server for the first time, so it's not even NO download in its actual sense right now. 1 download takes maximum 30 seconds? And you have to do it only one time. Most of the people downloaded those maps in their ET time already anyway. And even if not, I doubt those 30 seconds will make people cancel the download and never connect to the server anymore.
2) We're doing really great at the moment indeed, but it could be even better and those new maps would make the whole thing a lot more interesting. I'm noticing that many ND-members aren't really active, that may also have other reasons, but I can imagine very well that they are a little bored of the same thing again and again.
3) If you want I would take care of the Sk areas and the Wj rules. I would make all the necessary screenshots and explanations and I would be very eager and active to explain it to all the guests the first few times when we play those maps.
Anything else? I would be very glad to answer all your questions and concerns
Of course we would have to make another poll for the maps which would eventually be added. But in first place I wanted to make sure whether my impression is wrong or if there are more people thinking the way I do
