In some cases crouching can be bad, if you're up close then that gives your opponent easy headshots, as you're not very mobile in crouch position, I usually stand when I'm up close to use my sprint, or when I need to shoot and dodge at the same time

thats not the case with mg but yeah you are right, it all depends on the situation
