W:ET Game halts during action
#1
Hi duckies!

Recently I restarted playing ET sometimes, and I do this from my hard drive, where it was installed before I set up an SSD drive.
Currently I store and run programs from the SSD drive and the old stuff is on HDD, ET software pack as well.

My problem is that my game halts at random times for ca. a half second, when I cannot do and see anything but a halted, frozen view, but the game (on the server) runs further in such moments. I mostly have experienced this when starting an action like reloading gun or in worst case, when I start firing at the enemy or we start firing at the same moment. In these cases I got frozen and cannot shoot back, so finally I get killed.

Earlier I had this problem, but I don't know what caused it.

Can please help me fixing this annoying issue?

Thx

Old Butch

same behaviour when you copy your game to the SSD ?

Maybe your old HDD for storage is starting to be defective/old

One of the oldest issues in the game?

Q: ET is very laggy, how can I fix this?
A: Type the following commands in the console before reconnecting to the server: "/rate 25000", "/cl_maxpackets 100", "/r_primitives 2"

Sounds like a connection issue rather than hardware

To summarise :

-Rename ET.exe to quake3.exe

-Ingame, try write in console :
/rate 25000
/cl_maxpackets 100
/r_primitives 2

If the freezes still occur, copy the game into your SSD.

Should fix it

Hey Mates,

Thank you all for your proposals.

I had all settings fine, so finally copying the whole ET program folder to my SSD drive helped.

See you soon in battle! Wink
