ND Achievement/Trophy hunter idea (archived by Nirv)

I don't think it's hard at all to know if people got it fair since you could just make it so they would have to upload a demo of their gameplay when they want to validate a trophy.

How are you going to figure out that really no bots were harmed in the process of achieving a certain award? And what are you going to do if people decide to just put a letter that you use for your trophy system into their own tags? We can hardly call out our guests for the use of certain letters in their name.

In general I believe in the 'goodwill' of people, and people just play it fair and square.

Guests/members who don't know about the trophies are not likely going to put some random characters with the specific color code behind their names, and if they do, a possible solution is to make it more like a classic Fireteam tag, for example between brackets [..] or something. In other cases I agree, calling them out for using a certain letter is out of the question.

Nice idea! You mentioned it's only for ND members. I hope you consider making it public. If they do abuse the tag, it's a good sign your achievement-idea is working and people want to participate. Players will hopefully do their best and be in ND more often or longer to get the achievements. You'd need a good idea to have them proof they deserve the award. If they are registered here on the forums and somehow 'sign up' to participate, they would not have to join TWC. It might be a long shot for regulators to join TWC to be part of these achievements. I'd vouch for regulators to be able to participate because it keeps them connected to our servers. What are the tags worth in other servers? Kind of nothing, if they want to 'show' them, it's in TWC ND. Which they will hopefully visit more often then. :-)

Just saying, great idea! Probably never gonna get a letter but I hope more competitive people will show and try to get one. That could hopefully be a boost :-)

I wrote something that could scrape the stats automatically and posted a first start here: http://board.twcclan.org/thread-8016.html . But I don't have much time anymore, maybe i pick it up again some day.
