Mystik's Protip™: Stop using µTorrent
#1
Information
This is kinda old news by now, but i'm gonna copy-paste this topic here too. As i did for few other topics also, but i consider them to hold some valuable information so why not share it on TWC also!

Mystik Wrote:A version of uTorrent has been bundled with a cryptocurrency miner that basically mines bitcoins for criminals, using your machine's resources (makes it slower) and electricity.

Also uTorrent in general 1) tracks users like an NSA wannabe 2) Displays shit ads 3) Is owned by the MPAA (*tightens tinfoil hat*)

As the miner was detected, and there was a thread posted on uTorrent's forum about it, the entire uTorrent website is now down:
http://forum.utorrent.com/topic/95041-wa...-utorrent/

So here are your options:
1) Don't update uTorrent to version 3.x ->
2) Switch torrent clients

There are many alternatives, qBitTorrent, Deluge, Transmission, Deluge, Vuze etc etc. My recommendation goes for qBitTorrent, which i will be switching to. I've been thinking of switching for a long time as ive read all the shit news about uTorrent, but i was just hanging in there... But now with this cryptominer malware BiggrinBiggrinBiggrin no thanks, good bye uTorrent.
PS. Google is your best friend when it comes to picking a new client.

So this was what i wrote on March, and since they have removed the malware from being bundled with the client. But like i mentioned above, i don't trust uTorrent at all, especially after this, and the ads are crappy. So instead i moved to qBittorrent, and boy have i been happy ever since. It basically has all of the same functionality minus the bullshit, malware and ads. Also my torrent speeds have been better with qBT than they ever were with uT. But Deluge, Vuze and Transmission are also viable options, or KTorrent on linux. Maybe it's just me but I'm never touching uTorrent again. Pcsmash
