Server Problems with PB (archived by John)

I have a little problem .
When PB is turning on , i get lags while im playing the server , i have tried to turn it off , then i came back to game without any lags .

but i want to play with PB on and saving my XP , can someone help me please and fix my problem ?

you dont need PB to save your XP.
You just need an etkey. so you can disable pb
/pb_cl_enable 0

I have already tried it , but when i disable pb my xp is gone .
and i have an etkey .

That happens to me too if I wanted to disable PB. Clearly they are linked together somehow. Cud you perhaps answer more questions in order we can solve why you're lagging?

- What kind of internet connection do you have (cable, modem, net stick, WLAN)
- How fast is your internet connection (for me I have 150 megas which is more than a lot)
- Have you tried to minimize your game settings to the lowest possible? It means low-detailed:

1. ESC - Options - View:
- Low quality sky: yes
- Blood Flash & Blood Splatter: none

2. ESC - Options - System:
- Geometric detail: low
- Texture detail: low
- Connection: LAN/CABLE/xDSL

There are more ways to reduce your ping/lag but these are the easiest ways.

Now type these cvars into your console while you have ET open:
/set r_picmip "3" - means no details on the walls (affects to your visual settings that your graphics card deals with)
/set cg_atmosphericeffects "0" - no rain or snow
/set cg_wolfparticles "0" - no explosive effect from airstrike/arty (you still get blown up though)

One last thing: Don't use much other programs open while running the game (especially downloads).
