Ligustah Wrote:Hello,
as i just set it up for TC:E, i thought i'd share a little, yet useful trick with you guys.
Basically, this is about using the same config for different mods, while still allowing
customisations to be made. I'll demonstrate it using TC:E.
In my main config i have some lines like this:
Code:echo "^3loading mod specific settings..." exec "mod.cfg"
Now we take advantage of the way ET scans its directories for files to execute.
Put the main config file into your etmain folder and create a file called "mod.cfg"
in each mod folder you want to customise settings for.
So in this example i will assume the main config to be called "config.cfg".
Somwhere in the config.cfg i have this:
Code:bind MOUSE1 "+attack" bind MOUSE2 "weapalt" bind MOUSE3 "+vstr bind_mouse_down bind_mouse_up"
My mod.cfg for TC:E contains this:
Code:bind mouse2 +zoom bind mouse3 +firemode
My mod.cfg for Jaymod looks like this:
Code:bind mouse2 +attack2
In game i can simply do /exec config.cfg
Now, depending on which mod i am on, it will either load tcetest/mod.cfg or jaymod/mod.cfg
or just show an error message, because the file does not exist.
Hope this is of any use.
