Forum- and In-game name in rosters! (archived by Chuck)
Hello mates,

So today Im suggesting such thing like having members forum AND In-game names in rosters.
It is very hard to detect in-game player as member when he uses different name on forum, everytime you need to check roster updates, roster (and some cases transfer requests) if person is member.
I got couple times this problem today, member in-game uses different name as on forum -> check roster updates of current server (not found), -> check roster updates of old home server (not found) -> check both rosters of servers (not found). Finally I found name from transfer requests and saw that person transfered some time ago to another server, but there was no info anywhere in roster updates or roster about it! Only found from transfer requests. So same time problem is that ALL servers, keep up your rosters and roster updates, thanks.
My advice is to (not sure if already this idea used) would be to choose certain persons to update rosters and roster updates (mostly RCTR's and above).
So please, put all info what happened on server, and who transfered to another server / transfered to your server, who was recruited, who changed name, who left etc...
I see in some cases lazyness or people forgotting to updates server info regularly. Anyways, what is sense to use 2 names...? Its OK for now untill we can see those names on roster.

Now, when this can be done players with different names could be informed as this in roster (*Example*):

-TWC|ETPlayer / Superman|TWC-
In-game name / Forum name

I know that its even hard for some servers to keep roster updates and rosters up to date, but if you all could do little service and put them up to date, choose persons to update them regularly and use In-game name and forum name in rosters, I would be grateful. It will be much easier to check players name from roster with forum name also, it will come to use.

For lazy ones to read text below/simply said my point:

1. Update roster updates regularly (choose persons to do this as well for roster!)
2. Update roster
3. Use players in-game name and forum name at rosters

If you use little bit effort now, it will come easier in future to recognize persons of TWC, this will come to use, Im sure.
Maybe someone suggested this, or then not. Maybe someone still has something against this suggestion...
And Im sure that I forgot to mention something to keep eye on, but lets hope you got my point. Tongue
Thanks and sorry.

Yeah, That's good idea, and agree here:

There's too much guys what have moderate rights In Server Base and don't update rosters, Great example is ND Roster.

Greetings,

Kokok

True, that's why it might be better if these rights would be divided to a fewer amount of people, but to people who will take care of their job. Also I think the in-game and forum name thing would be handy in case supremes or high admins do need to look something up. (concerning names and levels for instance)

He means, that there is link on your name, by clicking it, it brings to persons profile.
That would be great, but its maybe hard for some people to do links about every player that has 2 names, and roster code becomes more hard to read. :/
But otherwise that would be great idea +1

if you look on members, it shows their ingame name in brackets, E.G.: General Smith (-TWC|Smith|DC/C)
but your right, this would be useful as hardly anyone puts it up

Stay Happy =)

This would be useful, as people don't always use the same name in-game.

RE: Forum- and In-game name in rosters!
This doesn't happen too often, but often enough to be confusing sometimes.

Sometimes a player changes his ingame name without asking for the forum name to be changed as well. Maybe they don't realize we can do that for them or not.

Currently members have to manually add their ingame name with tags as I see many have done, but in time they probably will not change that after another name change.

At one time I remember Ligustah was talking about a plugin that will tie in the forum to the servers. Perhaps there would be a way to automatically do name changing.

Other than that I don't see a way to keep name differences up to date, even if we designate someone to add the ingame name somewhere eventually they would start to miss some.

In a perfect world all members would simply edit their profile with ingame names and keep it up to date with any changes. Smile
