Q: ET is very laggy, how can I fix this?
A: Type the following commands in the console before reconnecting to the server: "/rate 25000", "/cl_maxpackets 100", "/r_primitives 2"

Q: Can't see any servers in serverlist.
A: First ask other people if they can see it - if not, it's problem on ID Software side and nothing can't be done by you. Need to wait till they bring their masterserver again. If yes, check if you didn't enable any filter in Play Online menu upper part. You may also want to try this app.

Q: My XP and level don't save. Why?
A: You don't have GUID or enabled PB. Follow this tutorial: http://board.twcclan.org/thread-261.html

Q: I lost my GUID. Is there any way to get it back?
A: No. You need to be careful with etkey. It can be accidentaly removed by applications like XFire, so better make a copy of it somewhere. Otherwise your xp and levels on all servers may get lost.

Q: My ET doesn't run because of "GLW_StartOpenGL() - could not load OpenGL subsystem" error.
A: Check your graphic card name and download latest drivers for it.

Q: Why do I sometimes get "Invalid .PK3 files referenced" error?
A: It happens when you disconnected from a server and try to connect again. Fix is simple - restart ET or click 'FIX PK3 -ERROR' when you have TWC menu, then connect again. However, it shouldn't happen in any TWC server atm.

Q: Why do I have "hunk_alloc failed on xxx" error on some maps?
A: Some maps require more RAM than other, especially big ones with many brushes. You need to change /com_hunkmegs value to higher in order to play these maps. /com_hunkmegs 128 should be sufficient for almost all maps, if not - use 256. If still doesn't work, paste it in config.

Q: Can't connect to Jaymod servers because "Your client is providing invalid user information" error. Or in other mods, as "Error: missing name field in userinfo" shows up.
A: You renamed to empty string on a Jaymod server. Open ET folder -> jaymod -> [profilename] -> etconfig.cfg and change name there. If still doesn't work, remove whole profile. If it happened in other mod, do it in mod of that folder instead.

Q: I got "Game Code (cgame_mp_x86.dll) failed Pure Server check" error.
A: It happens when you use Vista or Win7. Go to your ET folder -> right click on ET.exe -> properties -> compatibility -> tick "Run this program as an administrator".

Q: Why is it spamming to update ET in almost all TWC servers? Do I have to do it?
A: You use 2.55 version of ET. You don't have to update to ET 2.60b, but it is recommended and only way to get rid of those announcements. In 2.60b there are more available mods to play (newest NQ and ETPro for instance), more servers and more players. Easy update guide: http://et.trackbase.net/update

Q: I sometimes lose my settings and binds in some mods.
A: Use own cfg to save them. There are guides on making cfg's in Tutorial base.

Q: Got random crashes in etnam. Why?
A: Those happen in 0.1.1 version of mod. Will probably be fixed in next versions of mod.

Q: How can I have the same resolution for ET as for my desktop?
A: By default, ET only allows 4:3 aspect ratio resolutions. By modifying a few cvars, you can change the resolution to any custom value.

Q: I get a black screen when entering a server, how can I fix this?
A: Run ET as an admin and type "/r_primitives 2" in the console, then reconnect to the server or type "/vid_restart".

Q: ET is unable to download any files or maps, how can I fix this?
A: Open console and type "/cl_allowdownload 1" and "/cl_wwwdownload 1", then reconnect to the server.
Alternatively, you can download any maps or files manually and put them in the designated folder (ETmain or mod folder for example)

Q: When playing ET, I can't chat or use my commands (admins only)
A: Upload your ETkey to the forums for the authenticator and connect to the forums using the same IP address as you use to connect to the servers.
Occasionally, when you connect via a mobile access, the authenticator will not recognise the ip as being yours and will disable the use of the chat or commands.


Q: I'm trying to install ET on a mac but I get some errors.
A: Answer is in the spoiler because it is too long.
There is a software called Winebottler (http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/) which allows you to run ET on a mac computer. It works well on most mods except for ETPro. The full topic on this problem can be found here: http://board.twcclan.org/thread-5859.html
Alternatively, you can try ETLegacy which also works on the iOS system.

Q: I would like to change my forumname.
A: On the top right of the forum is a button called “support”, click this button and submit a ticket for a namechange. An admin will then change your forum name shortly after.


Q: I can't see any of the items in my HUD display anymore.
A: Type "cg_draw2d 1" in your console.

Forum:

Error: Message is missing... || PM recipient is not visible in sent folder.

Q: How to fix "Error: Message is missing..." when posting new reply/thread?
A: We didn't find a complete way to fix it, as it happens only to few people, but it seems it has connection with browser extensions/plugins. Try to disable all, then post. If succeed without error, enable one by one and try posting again. You'll find out which plugin is faulty - keep it disabled and report name of it to me.

Q: The recipient for private messages in the sent folder is not visible, how is this possible?
A: This is merely a forum bug. When you open the individual messages, you will be able to view the recipient.
