Solved CFG problem (archived by Mimus)

I think this is the right place to post this after checking the how to make a cfg base.

I've made myself a cfg because I kept losing my settings (The cfg therefore doesn't contain anything but settings) and I need a little help. I always play small screen 800*600 (just an old habbit which will be impossible to get rid off) but once I exec my cfg it goes to 1024*something ( I don't know this number from the head) and it keeps doing it. The part in my cfg I'm talking about is this:

seta r_customaspect 1
seta r_customheight 600
seta r_customwidth 800

Which should be right, I've toggled fullscreen off so it is a small screen but I want it to be 800*600 and not 1024*something. Anyone familiar with this problem?

should work fine

E: or do like teammate said but it's better when you put every option in it, it's more clear and avoids overwrites from other cfg's

Hey Bollie,

The commands posted before will work just fine, but are pretty annoying when you exec your CFG mid game as it will restart all video settings. Try putting those commands in your shortcut to ET instead or even better (simpler) put a cfg in there.

Create another cfg in your etmain appart from your settings cfg and name it screensettings.cfg for example (whatever you want). Put all commands (posted before) in, but do not copy 'vid_restart' as it will probably not be needed at all (not 100% sure, but try it without vid_restart first).

Rightclick the shortcut to ET on your desktop (assuming you have one) and add '-exec "screensettings.cfg"' to it.

In my case it would become:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory\et.exe" -exec "screensettings.cfg"

Click OK and you're done.


Another thing you could do, which would be beter depending on your preference/situation, is to completely replace screensettings.cfg with your settings cfg. This should work fine, but it is possible that your name will not be saved this way, until you exec the file again mid game.

The -1 thing worked without the vid restart ! Thanks a lot guys! Someone knows which setting effects the Grass in radar? :P

PS: To the regulator, please don't archive/delelte this topic just yet. I'm gonna have a look at moanrakers solution tomorrow since that might be even more handy.
