Quote:Remaining questions
I don't think all questions were answered. I believe what we want to know here is:
- Why are "guests and normal member base" not allowed to give their opinion on moderation decisions, if they believe they are wrongful? Especially bans?
- Do you think it's productive to not address the points of the people criticizing you, and just instead go "if you keep asking I will kick and ban you as well" mode on them?
- Why delete their message history? It could have been used as prove here, and are now harder to dig out from whatever logging chuckie has set up on the bot. (I'm pretty sure there is logging setup on it for logging deleted messages). If this was an accident then no problem, happens.
- Is it really an official TWC rule / guideline that guests and normal members are not allowed to question, or criticize staff decisions or moderation?
alright so i do wanna make a post on this thread and i think mystik's quote is a good way for me to start
i do believe raven could of handled this better without even causing escalation and i spoke to him on VC. now i wanna put this point here first because its very important, ive told raven that what he did was controversial, i explained to him why it was wrong and he understands why it was wrong. he told me he even regrets it. i had to go make food and he didnt have time after so we eventually hung up. ive messaged him that he owes an apology. Now to answer these questions with my (slightly improvised) conclusions.
- Why are "guests and normal member base" not allowed to give their opinion on moderation decisions, if they believe they are wrongful? Especially bans?
this is a fair question and honestly i believe that it should be totally allowed to talk about well pretty much anything here aslong as it isnt legit toxic. talking about the questional decisions we make and criticizing us well thats often beneficial information right? however what raven did was exert way too much control over the conversation by desperately telling people to stop talking about the nuestra ban right after it happened. mystik told raven that is a bad decision pretty quickly because of course, somebody getting banned? well thats always a hot topic especially after it happens and trying to force-cut off that conversation at its hottest point results in a frenzy as seen in the screenshots provided by mystik. like i said i spoke this to raven in the VC and he agreed that it was a bad way of handling the situation.
- Do you think it's productive to not address the points of the people criticizing you, and just instead go "if you keep asking I will kick and ban you as well" mode on them?
its not productive. trying to control a conversation as aggresively as raven was the wrong choice, things werent really 'too far' at all. needless to say conversations will go on and change/end naturally. trying to supress a conversation pre-maturely before everyone has made their point causes the reverse intended effect of blowing things up more and making it extra heated. this resulted in raven getting provoked and bans being thrown out. again, spoke with him, he understands.

the discord server setting was on where when somebody gets banned from the server their messages within the last 24 hours are removed. this resulted in alot of the conversation being missing and spread out dis-organised in the staff logs.

like i said in the first paragraph, this is the internet and people can pretty much talk about whatever they want. you guys are mature enough to keep it reasonable.
either way, im only here because i wanna de-escalate the drama and give it a rational conclusion. everyone makes stupid mistakes from time to time, some mistakes kinda have to be learned the hard way.
EDIT: i spent so long making this post slowly and surely that the thread got closed in the meanwhile? damn
