Same can be asked about other mods - what's wrong with sniping in them? Answer - nothing. It's not about sniping, it's about mod in general. If you didn't notice, admins move on from outdated nondeveloped mods to new with active support. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not. But it'll be surely worth trying when we'll be dead as HS instead of setting 20 bots or sitting afk whole day in server.
I know that Jaymod servers and community is still active, especially in frag. However that's not a reason to stay by it forever, even when server would be totally inactive. This mod is half dead, same as enhmod. Nothing will be done - it stays in 1 place and only server admins and players make it alive.
This is a list of features we could get from moving for example to N!tmod (keeping almost all old, except mainly enhmod features which can be requested for future):
1. XP and lvl saved for everyone because of nguid system
2. Custom votes for disabling/enabling leaning, grenades and other stuff while playing
3. Mailing to offline people
4. Custom LUA scripts, which are more efficient than QMM
5. Mapvoting instead of same mapcycle over and over again
6. More advanced custom commands, also few interesting normal commands
7. Banning by IP, MAC and GUID instead of easily-avoidable only GUID (not that we ban many people in sniper but still)
8. Support for new ET projects which we may use in future too (OpenWolf for instance) and omni-bot.
9... Many more minor things.
And probably more in future. Haven't looked at silent yet, but I'm sure it has interesting features too.
