Hey Hamster about your un-translatable desserts, we have kind of similar pastry dessert called 'flancati'. Similar to doughnuts

Flancati, they are the same sweets we make here in Italy but called "cenci" (In Tuscany) or chiacchiere (In Trieste they are called galani or crostoli) , we usually eat them at Carnival time
