New supremes ! - Sky - 06-11-2016
Hello everyone,
This post will be about No Download and ... sniper
Let's talk about ND first though.As you may have noticed Tomahawk has left and we now lack supremeship for our most populated server. After talking with Tomahawk and other MSTs, we quickly concluded that in the current ND HA base, there wasn't just one person who was 100% fit to handle such a crowded server as ND, so we decided to elect two supremes instead of one. These supremes will be Pride and Vogel.
Even though Vogel has what we can consider a "shady" past, we think everybody can agree that he's one of the most active admins in ND since months, and that he's also very active and mature in discussions happening on forum. He's been a HA since almost a year and is doing his job perfectly fine, We're pretty sure he'll do well in his new job and show us that he can be trusted.
Same goes for Pride of course, he's been a very loyal TWC admin since years too, even though he's been mostly discrete on forums, except from ND high admin discussions where he always actively participated with ongoing discussions, he always did his job as HA perfectly fine, and we're sure they will be a good pair.
Now let's have a word about sniper,
First of all let me be honest for a minute : sniper is currently in a horrible state, which originated from a lot of members and admins suddenly leaving, followed by the current lack of correct leadership/supremeship. This had several consequences : even more members leaving one after another, old and disliked server settings not being changed, etc ...
Recently we've been trying to figure out a way to get sniper back on track, and we think one possible way would be to try to reboot it with new leadership. Of course we had to find someone with enough motivation to try to freshen up the server and clean up the mess that prevented members from other servers to even like playing sniper.
Then someone came to us proposing his help, that someone was Cross. Even though Cross is currently leader of the panzerwar server, he used to be in sniper clans mainly, so he knows quite a bit about sniper servers. Even though he never was supreme on his own, I'm pretty sure that with a little help from MST / other supremes for the technical stuff, he will manage very well. Here's a quick snapshot about things he'd like to change for the sniper server
- Change the map cycle
- Remove huge & boring maps
- Remove the cg_bob* cvar forcing
- Experiment sniper in nitmod (using the sniper testserver) because nitmod has more realistic features when it comes to sniping (visible heads while leaning, invisible players on G-Map, better head hitboxes, etc ...)
Please note that we certainly don't expect him to gather 20+ members in a month, we just feel like giving sniper a fresh shot and see if it works out, Cross is very motivated and I trust he'll do his best.
In order to achieve that, he will need some help of course, I'm thinking about PsA or even just random groups of people gathering there to test out the new settings from time to time. Every member that feels like helping out, just visit once a while for 30 mins when you're bored, it helps a lot more than you think.
PS: The current sniper supreme, TechN9NE, will be demoted to member in the process.
