Survival world added - Mimus - 31-03-2016

Because we have seen some discussions/requests/suggestions coming up in the MC Chatroom thread, we have decided to add the survival world people seem to wish for.

It is NOT a different server, the creative and events world still exist and you can aswell talk with people playing creative while you play survival on the SAME server.

It is just a world inside the server. The server now has, kinda, 5 worlds (creative, events, survival, nether and end).

The settings are normal difficulty, and no added plugins or anything. Just plain vanilla survival, as requested from most of you.

Mimus

PS: YOu can ofc look at that new world at our dynmap (map.teawc.org)

RE: Survival world added - SpeeD - 31-03-2016

Is the nether/end world that can be entered by the portals in survival connected with the other worlds or are those the above mentioned worlds

RE: Survival world added - Mimus - 31-03-2016

As said above, the server has indeed 5 worlds, since nether and end are included in the worldlisting. However, ofc the nether and end are worlds are a part of survival playing and therefore accessible through portals in the survival world.

BTW, could you install a GriefProtection as well as the plugin that enables to set homes?

So you guys don't want the pure survival experience? :P

GriefProtection is always somewhat tricky to implement and balance (who can build where and how much?). A much easier approach would be setting up a whitelist for the survival worlds and just assume that you guys won't screw up each others houses.

As for /home, we actually tried to disable as many of the teleport commands as possible from the survival worlds, as we think teleporting is not really how survival is supposed to be played.

I personally think survival gets boring pretty quickly, when it's too easy. However, we can surely adjust the settings a bit to make it more comfortable. That is mostly up to what you guys want (i.e. start a discussion/poll about it).

Yes we do want that experience without losing our stuff and rage quit, thats why plugins like greif protection is required tho , afaik its no fun when you built ur own house and worked hard for it..and finally its destroyed by something or someone we dont know..

About implenting the balance for how much land size protection they want.. i guess its easy by just Buying Land Claim Size points? like suppose atm i only have 10 x 10 Protection around my land in default.. and if i want to increase/resize it for more.. i need to buy land claim points by paying dimes or stuff? or i.e by setting up economy/money plugin stuff to buy them?

This time i think it wont be boring because on the other side you can go to creative too, but what is more comfortable to me is to have protection and economy imo :P

I have no problems with /home or stuff if its disabled, since i can use coordinates to locate Smile

That is why I suggested a whitelist approach.

It's not that easy unfortunately. It's very cumbersome to adjust the settings of the various plugins to play along with each other well enough.

This sounds like you already know survival is going to be boring. We have creative already and as far as I can tell it's not really active, so I don't see how it would make survival last longer.

Basically what you describe was exactly what we built last time (except for creative). We had economy, warps and GriefPrevention. It took a non-trivial amount of time to set up everything like that and it was only running for a month or two. That is very frustrating to say the least.

So this time we don't want to make such an upfront time investment. We might add a backup plugin to restore your stuff should a griefer come along, but for now I think the whitelist would be the best solution. Please don't get me wrong, we're not opposed to having these features, just very sceptical of the ROI.
