Xfire (archived by NightFall) - Tom - 10-06-2015

Hello!

I'm Tom from EA and I read a pretty alarming thing today. Apparently Xfire is shutting down their Social.xfire website and their chat client by the 12th of June.(source:http://social.xfire.com/)

I already posted this on our forums and I figured it would be cool if we could come up with a common substitute for it. Steam and Skype seem to be pretty likely subsitutes but I have recieved complaints about them slowing some people's computers down.

If you have any screenshots or videos you don't want to lose i suggest you download them on the link I post above.

Me and Passive are currently testing out some chats such as raptr and Razer comms. I'll be posting if we find anything cool Biggrin

If you have any suggestions, please share them!

My xfire is: Tomppelii

RE: Xfire - Mimus - 10-06-2015

Indeed. Alternatives we would have in the sleeve are Raptr, Evolve, Overwolf and ofc Teamspeak will stay with us. However, Steam would be my favorite substitute, since we already have a TWC group there that is slowly growing.

I wouldn't mind steam but some peope would rather use something else. If we can't find something by the time they shut down, then i guess steam will have to do Biggrin

RE: Xfire - lowascrap - 10-06-2015

..xfire was beast untill they ruined it with the stupid 2.0 client Sad sad too see it die

RE: Xfire - Thrasher - 10-06-2015

yup that is pretty unfortunate we will need another chat client now

RE: Xfire - Hani - 10-06-2015

I will go for Teamspeak cuz its very light, fast and good.

RE: Xfire - Sky - 10-06-2015

a huge advantage of xfire was xfire ingame chat :/
does steam's ingame chat even work with ET?

RE: Xfire - TechN9NE - 10-06-2015

good question sky..
is it true you have to spend $10 to add people on steam??
also does anyone have a link for the download??

RE: Xfire - Tom - 10-06-2015

I'm pretty sure you can add a nonsteam game into your library on steam so it shoudl work on ET.. i could be wrong though.
And no why on earth would you pay 10 bucks to add a friend, watchu on bruv?
