This is something that has been in my mind recently and its about the name stealers.
sometimes its really hard dealing with them when it comes to warnings and stuff and then actualy kicking or banning them.
to be honest i dont really think warnings and splats work, as it seems highly unlikely they will say: "sry for stealing names and trolling, sk'ing etc......" but i also understand we got a procedure of how to deals with hackings, trolling and all.
sometimes trying to figure who the guy is while getting countless complaints from guests is really hard and creates awkard and unneccesary situations
so i want to ask you guys, can u share your experience? maybe give some tips to new guys like me?
also i think we should come up with a specific procedure for name stealers, when it comes to kicking/banning, how to take proof and which kind of proof u need (like !li which shows the name stealing)
and please guys i know this seems stupid and all, but i want to learn and get better so it would be nice if you share your opinions

If i see some1 doing heavy sk /speaking in different lang or breaking any rules continusly even after warning and splatting/muting him then i simply take ss of his ip and kick him. If he comes back with different name then i finger him and match his ip with the ss if it is same then i kick him for the last time and if he still comes and continues then i give him a ban for a week or 3days and sometimes i even remember their ip's lol
If the same player comes with different name and different etkey(after the kick) then finger him and match his ip with the ss that u took, usually the 1st 2 parts match, or u can use !userli -ip (his ip , not full just 2 parts) like !userli -ip 78.8. and if u see the guys name in that userlist whom u kicked then its ofc the same guy.
For proof , i'd go for taking ss of when the guests say sk or when he speaks in different language or insulting ppl and also the finger. It's not a bad idea if we can take a ss of the !lsplayers when some1 is stealing names.
This is what i do when i see some1 name stealing and breaking rules but ofc i'd also like to know what u guys would do at the same situation.

Well, what we did in my ex clan with people who came back after kicks and bans etc,we would splat/glow/pip/pop them just none-stop until they left or behaved. This mostly made them stop or leave so it was solved.

I freeze him for sometime then unfreeze and even mute if he talks to much blah blah or insults some1 or breaks any rule. But u have to be sure that the person whom u freezed if he/she disconnects then the next player who will connect and will have the same slot no like the one whom u freezed then the newly connected player will be freezed itself.
For example , master connected to the server and u freeze him, be sure to do !li and see his slot number and u see his's slot no. is 9. Then he disconnects and i connect after sometime and i have the same slot no. 9 as he had so i will be freezed and will still be freezed untill some1 unfreezes me.

yea this is a good way of dealing with them, what it also possible is banning a range of IP's when there is really some douche you can't get off the server. But this is a bit trickier, you can ban like IP range of .....87.8 -.....88.5 or sth.
But then you must be sure about their IP's and all their diffret IP's and what range they are in. This is a last solution thing.
yea keeping track of trollers and cheater IP's is important.

this is becoming a trend in ND as blackeye posted recently that she had a similar case with a guy named wpf and another named pik-pik or something, which btw i think he is a regular guest (wpf that is).
any way of preventing it? maybe ask the MSTs for help?

well actually the ways bella and sub mentioned are the best options.
But there is no way we can prevent people for taking diffrent names.
you would need to compare the ips or guids and rename them if needed.
But theres no way we can avoid people for taking diffrent names

I don't really think so there is any way from preventing ppl from copying name.
sth about pika pika or watever his name is i heard from some1 that he and wfp, both were using same guid and most probably pika pika was cpu* who was just changing name almost all the time.

a good way to annoy the poo out of them until they give up is freeze them constantly.
done it today to some cheater on the nd like 3 times and he gave up and left

freeze was yesterday the best way.
after we freeze him, he left.
