Partnerships (archived by John) - John - 25-04-2012

Elo,

Some guy from dG (deliveranceGaming) contacted me about partnership, I told him that we welcome every clan into our servers as long as they welcome us. But he could try to change our minds if he could tell me the privilege of TWC and dG being partners.

He told me he works as an Search Engine Optimiser and told me that the more links a website got on other websites the higher it gets on the search engines when they're looking in your direction. I already knew this but never thought (think) this could increase activity in some way.

I've told him I would discuss about it with some peeps so feel free to reply.

Maybe we could give partnership (alliedclans) a chance?
Then we can place some member in charge of this, its a chance to get members more involved again Biggrin

Currently when you google ET clan forums, we are close to the top on page 6. That's using a very general search.

If you type twcclan we are second on page one.

I'm not against hooking up with this guy, but as far as searches go I really don't think it would benefit us in any way. Only because if people are looking for us specifically they will type us specifically.

So I guess, as long as they don't want special levels or try to force any rules along with this friendship, then sure why not?

Lig, whats your opinion in this topic? Biggrin

About SEO, I think Mayhem is right, we are just simple ET clan and the most people are visiting us through recruitment/TWC menu or sometimes sites like trackbase, splashdamage or very seldom by googling our exact name.
Additionaly there is already installed a plugin which raises SEO a bit, with some useful functions enabled (helping robots to go through the site) so I don't think we need anything else.

But if you really want to position our site and get higher PageRank, you can do it yourself too, it's not that hard. You need to register on sites like this http://www.link-vault.com/ and put our site there. We can also put "Like" or "+1" button on index to like our site in FB/Google, heard that increases position too.
Remember that higher position means also more bots (posting positioning urls on sites with higher PageRank is more likely to happen) but that doesn't matter now because the 2 defending plugins I installed are 100% effective atm.

I like the idea of the Like button on our website, also it might be a good idea to make the portal page the homepage and place the history on the homepage with the Like button.

Back to the partnership: so we say them we will are willing to give it a try and place some link to their website somewhere if there are no levels and rules attached?

It sounds to me like he would be the one benifiting out of this. We would only have their site and no one elses right? While he has us and a lot of others. I dont mind posting server ip's but forums is another thing.

SEO is, for most parts, a myth that people use to make money. Google just recently put an update live that will punish sites, which do too much SEO.

As for Google search, I don't think that we have had at least 5 guys joining our clan because they found us on Google.
If you are concerned about that, we can just aswell use Adwords to be in top.
Anyways, we would only benefit if his page had a high PageRank, which I doubt. And if we were ranked higher, I highly doubt we'd gain members that way.
