HELP! new video, sound card - skee - 26-08-2014 I am looking for a sound and video card and I dont know which is good or not.. I need a sound card that i can listen to music with a subwoofer and other speakers with the headphones and mic port but can play a game with no problems. The video card just needs to have the best graphics for gaming and watching HD videos. But all this needs to be $400 or below. please help me
RE: HELP! new video, sound card - djuki - 26-08-2014 Hmmm, my opinion. If you upgrade you already decided that your current system still has some good items you can use. In your case everything besides your sound- and your graphicscard. this surprised me a bit. the last couple of years the soundcards are build-in to the mainboard. Maybe yours is broken and you dont want to replace your mainboard, but otherwise you must have a really old system. In that case I wouldn't recommend buying a card that, in our words, needs to have the best graphics for gaming. Because it'll be really expensive but more important the rest of your system would be able to support you GPU (graphicscard). A PC is like a team. all components must be in balance. Like a soccer team. Having the best goalkeeper in your team while the others play like crap you will still lose the match. I hope you get this metaphor. So be4 giving more advise I think this best to begin to describe what you already have. What kind of processor, mainbord, powersupply, DDRram HDD etc etc. To still awnser your question. A cheap soundcard will do. buying a GPU is a different matter. and it really depence on the rest of your system. but you can buy a good GPU for around €100,-. you can get a decent for €60 but you can get a great one for €600,- all up to what you want and what you want to spend on it. Good luck! RE: HELP! new video, sound card - skee - 26-08-2014 im looking to spend around at the most $250 for the sound card but im not getting a video card. My sound card just went out which supprised me too. RE: HELP! new video, sound card - Chuck - 27-08-2014 Hmm i always prefer using an soundcard instead of the inbuilt one, they are always better. I myself bought Soundblaster Z costs around 80 euro. Its a beast and i dont want without it ![]() I bought also Nvidia GTX650 OC 1GB by MSI that is a budget gaming version graphic card which is very good for regular gaming and HD videos and costs around 70 euro. You can always go for better ofcourse. RE: HELP! new video, sound card - ZonElax - 27-08-2014 I just bought Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce GT640 2GB DDR3 (discount 90€, originally 136€ that's around 180$), well it depends on how good your computer is in general. For the sound card, my old one broke, so I bought some USB thing for 11€, that's around 15$ and it's working just fine.

For newer games it is recommended to have at least 740 (MSI N740-2GD5 GeForce GT 740 2048 PCI-e) and you can get it for a bit over 100 euros. However make sure it is suitable for your motherboard! Nowadays gamers get at least 770 (MSI GeForce GTX 770 Twin Frozr IV Gaming OC 2048 MB PCI-e) so that'd be my recommendation but since you're on a budget 740 is good too! As for sound, you do not need a real expensive one. I wudn't spent my money on that, I'd rather spend it on the hardware!
