Pb install + Etkey generation - John - 07-03-2012

Since evenbalance dropped the support of punkbuster on Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory you've to install punkbuster and get an etkey yourself to obtain and GUID.

There are 2 easy ways to do this, there's a simple patch which installs punkbuster and an etkey for you and there's ET-Master.
We'll start with the patch.

The Patch:
Download the patch here
The patch is located in the zip file you downloaded.

Double click the patch

Then run it

click agree

and then browse to your Wolfenstein directory, where the ET.exe is located

Install it and you're finnished.

ET-Master
ET-Master is a little more advanced then the patch, it installs or updates your punkbuster to the latest version and can generate an etkey for you.
Furthermore it cleans your temporary ET files and you can add connect buttons for servers you like.
Also can ET-Master patch your ET to the version you like (2.55 or 2.6b)

Download the zipfile here
Unzip the all the files into your Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory directory and run ET-Master

To patch your ET: select the 2.55 original or 2.6b original and click patch.
To generate an ETKey: Create etkey and click go, then Check and save and click go. Now you have generated an etkey and already have it backed-up under a different name.
To patch your punkbuster select Patch your pb to latest version under Extras and click go.

You're now ready to use your ET like a pro.

Punkbuster
After using one of the two methods above you might want to enable punkbuster with the following command ingame:
Open console with ~ and type: /pb_cl_enable
Then press enter.
After this command a reconnect (/reconnect in console) or even a restart is necessary
You can always type /pb_ver to verify that PB is indeed enabled.

Etkey
If these 2 methods are nothing for you and you're just looking for a guid the best option is http://fearless-assassins.com/etkey-enemy-territory/index.php
Generate an etkey there and place it in your Etmain folder, located in your Wolfenstein - Enemy Territory directory.

If this doesn't work, you can also try adding the ETkey in your appdata (this folder is usually hidden by default so be sure to enable hidden folders) folder:
User->AppData->Local->Punkbuster->ET->etmain

i must say its better to enable pb in the server ingame list cause sometimes u get that bug that pb disabled itself if u do it thru console, i had that alot of times and i saw guests/members also had it

I recommended this "patch" to John , and I indeed found out that PB in most cases disables itself. Ingame server list should indeed fix this :P (I tried to contact John about this, but Xfire messed up :S ).
