got banned on TWC Headshot for hack (archived by John) - new to ET - 21-03-2013
hi guys,
I usually play under the name new to ET, and im often on the TWC NoDownload but i've just played on the TWC Headshot. There were some admins, TWC Dude and TWC iTim. I noticed that they specced me, because you can type /serverstatus in the console and compare the xp of the spectators to your own xp to check, if someone is speccing you. Shortly after that, i asked them why they are speccing me, because i was curious. And then, suddenly they banned me from this server for hack.
I actually don't hack. I'm just playing ET nowdays for fun, but i used to play etpro a lot and played in several leagues and cups, even in the nationscup. So the admins probably thought i was cheating but that wasn't true.
So i'd like to play on this Headshotserver in the future too, so would you mind to think again about your decision again, dear admins

First of all, thank you for posting it here.
The admins took demos of you because they thought you were a bit suspicious.
Our Demo Team will check the demo and if they don't agree with the ban, you'll get unbanned

I've played with you a few times on nodownload, to me you're just a good player, I noticed this,
but "hack"?
I dont think so.
On the forum I could not find a demo of your "hacks".
And Puitje,

and if, for example, I want to see this demo (and I'm not in the "Demo Team") i cant?
So far as I've seen it all demos were posted in the right topic, or I looking for "new to ET" demo in the wrong place.
PS: I'm asking out of curiosity.

I guess they didn't post the demo yet and they'll post it tomorrow, just be patient bibkop
Btw, I specced the guy few times and he's just a good player, 100% clean.
If he really used hacks on headshot, then I can't wait to see the demo

Ya indeed, the insta-ban wasnt right unless they really were certain of you hacking.
As you have been told our demo team will come up with a decision shortly, thanks for your patience.

Yes as others have told you already, if there is a demo, it will be reviewed and a decision will be made. If there is no demo posted, the ban will be removed.
I do however have one question. Why would you be so interested in finding out whether you are being spec'd? If someone is playing clean, why would they care if they are being watched?
I'm not saying that using /serverstatus makes you guilty, but in my opinion it makes me think that you perhaps were a bit paranoid and wanted to see if you needed to turn off any cheat tool. At least that has been my experience over the years. Most people who want to know if they are being spec'd want to know it for a reason and usually it's not a good reason.
That doesn't always hold true though and in this case I hope you wanted to know if you were being spec'd for some honorable reason and not because you were maybe cheating.

Good question MayheM. Well i actually do this quite often, just because im curious who's speccing me. And i do this, because i know that if admis are speccing me, they often think im a cheater. I've already had similar problems, they aren't really new to me...
And if you want to see me playing, i've got some old demos too, or i could link you to some on gamestv.org
