First you chose your squad in lobby. Than you chose loadouts which you get in store (or after some games). With new loadouts you get different weapons and different perks. When you are in-game, you die and than you can press f1=1st character; f2=2nd character;f3=3rd character.

I wouldn't say so. Getting every merc and a good loadout for each for free takes many many hours. I have been playing from time to time (quite often lately) since credits were introduced and I still don't have access to five 50k and two 30k mercs. Only got two good bronze+ loadouts too (both silver), the rest has useless perks.

Of course I may be wrong in some cases - mainly becouse yesterday I have started playing. I shall write another opinion much later, when I will have some more experience.

I know this. But can I change those 3 characters and select others to choose in game?

But I see other player with another weapon like granade launcher xD
What are the function of the cases that I unlock sometimes? I think I can change characters and weapons with cases.

1) Nader's special ability is Grenade launcher.
2) that's what cases are for ^^

If you open the cases you get different loadouts wich you can choose per merc in the pre-game lobby. Other merc you have to buy with money (credits) you earn by playing and getting kills etc.
